Bear springs
Michael is a great host and he communicated well. The property is very nice and you climb a lot over the last 2 miles so if it’s warm in Durango, it’s probably a bit cooler on Michael’s place.
His house is nearby but if you have a van or a trailer it creates a nice buffer and you feel like the site is secluded. Overall, I would recommend for someone looking for electrical and water hookups near Durango.

Scenic Durango RV hookup and host!
Want to give a big shout out to Michael and where we stayed with him on his land:
a) water was ready to run and hookup was very convenient/easy
b) finding his place was no problem and was pretty straightforward for parking my 27' RV in the right spot (and level area, though it is a hill to drive down to then turn onto the level parking spot)
c) views from the parking spot were very nice, trails close by to explore some, and you could see stars at night without so much light pollution
d) had a fire pit and firewood easily accessible and for our use (which was awesome!)
e) convenient location -- we were close enough to downtown (i.e. <10 min) and then convenient for going to Palmer Quarterhorses / Over the Hill to ride horses (I would recommend as a nice trail / walking ride up to plateau for pretty views from wooded forest up and down); and, also put us just 30min from Lake Vallecito Marina / Reservoir (which was beautiful and you can take your RV to a day parking spot right on the water)
Michael was great about meeting us when we arrived, responsive to our needs (we were texting about the Lake and so he just walked down and talked with us about options and best approach, etc.), and as said, couldn't have been happier with the amenities and time we had with our family meeting up for a weekend.
Would definitely recommend if you are wanting to stay near Durango!

Amazing views. City close but country quiet. Michael was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. You won't regret this stay. Go ahead and book it!

The campsite was beautifully located just outside Durango... Mike is truly a Super Host and made us feel comfortable, offering any help we may have needed during our three day stay.. Campsite was big enough for our 31' RV and was almost perfectly level and was very quiet, even heard the Durango-Silverton locomotive whisle in the evenings off in the distance.. So relaxing... The drive up to the site is a dirt/gravel road so dust did fly, but was not an issue for us... We really enjoyed staying at this location and highly recommend staying at Bear Springs, Durango !! May 2024

Great for San Juan adventures
Beautiful property perched above Durango. Quick access to town then retreat back up the hill to views and solitude. So many birds! Mike is a great host, too! Made us feel 100% welcome.

Quite, close to town, great views!
Easy to find, close to town, private and quite site. Beautiful views and hook ups were all there. Mike is a great host. Make sure you have a long enough power cord as the utilities are on the opposite side ( no biggie). Steep road and driveway, make sure you’re not too big of a rig. Free fire wood. Worked great for a quiet place to sleep. Thanks Mike!
