A relaxed, back-to-basics campsite in the West Sussex countryside

All are welcome at The Slips campsite in leafy West Sussex. Whether you come with a tent, campervan, or motorhome; with your friends, family, or dog, there’ll be a pitch for you here. This is an easy-going summer-only site in a handy location close to the village of Henfield and not far from Brighton and the South Coast. Family campers will love the fresh air and proximity to the seaside, walkers are spoilt for choice with footpaths criss-crossing the surrounding countryside and couples will love the short walk to the closest pub.

This is very much a back-to-basics campsite, with portable toilets and no showers on site but what it lacks in facilities, it makes up for in on-pitch services. There’s electricity to each of the 28 pitches if you want it, and a handy water tap for each one too. This simple site is looked after by April and Maria, who will either welcome you to site or pop by to see you later, after you’ve let yourself in through the padlocked, five-bar gate. It's a family-owned field which has been called The Slips for as long as anyone can remember, though no one is quite sure why. Perhaps it’s something to do with its position close to the peaceful River Adur, just a short walk from here.

A footpath on the riverbank provides one of the great walking routes nearby – the Downs Link, a long distance route which passes not far from here, offers another. The shops and pubs of Henfield are also within walking distance, so if you’re after a slower pace of life, just pitch up, park up and stay local. On the other hand, if you fancy the thrills and spills of the seaside, Brighton is just 13 miles from here.

Pitch where you like at the back of the field. Quiet and peaceful location. If booked on august bank holiday the next field will be open to tent pitches!

We enjoyed our stay at April’s land a lot! It was very quiet, clean and well structured, which made it easy to find a pitch!

Henfield Itself Was Beautiful. Idelic Scenary & Friendly Local Pub, However MAJOR Issues With The Site Itself. The So Called Owner/Maitanence That Is Weirdly Permanently On Site & Has Been Spoken About In other Reviews Was Very Agressive & Abusive When Spoken About Issues; Kids Chased By The Dog, Shouting, Banging, Loud Music Till Early Hours Then Wanted To Fight & Caused Alot Of Commotion Infront Of Children. You Were Constantly Recorded By Their CCTV & Was Told Directly That It Was Onsite To Do Nothing But Cause Trouble! ..... No Privacy Or Peace!!!! Only 1 Portaloo Which Was Not Maintained & Not Useable Or Sanitary For 2 Days. Told To Depose Waste Were It Certainly Shouldn't Be Disposed Off!!! Basic Than Basic Feild Full Of Rabbits, Holes & Shit. Changes Need To Be Made To Ensure PAYING Customers Needs Are Met. Would NEVER Recommend Staying Here!! It Is Defiantly NOT Child Or Dog Friendly!!

We loved our stay at the slips. We went to local leisure centre and the toilet was very clean and well kept. The walk from the local pubs and shops was wonderful and lovely food. Site was easy to get to and close to all amenities. Thank you

The Slips is a new pop-up campsite situated in beautiful Henfield. This lovely but peaceful sussex site is sat right on the South Downs link with pubs, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Easy access to hop on a bus to Brighton beach and see the famous pier! Our site is secure so perfect for children to run around and have fun. Basic facilities are here at the site such has electric, water and portaloos. We welcome BBQ’s and we are dog friendly too! There’s plenty of time to relax and enjoy the peaceful countryside here at The Slips!!
Nearby attractions

The River Adur is a good place for a walk and there’s fishing too. The Downs Link also passes close by – it’s a long-distance multi-use path for walkers, cyclists and horseriders which (at its far ends) links the North Downs and the South Downs. You can visit the South Downs National Park a few miles south of here, perhaps head for the remains of the Norman Bramber Castle – which lies within the park and offers great views of the surrounding countryside. You can visit the seaside at Shoreham (10 miles), Worthing or Brighton (both 14 miles).

Food and drink

The Old Railway is the closest pub to site, about a mile away. It serves food and is both dog and family friendly and has a beer garden too. Henfield is also home to The White Hart and The Plough, a café and several shops if you want to pick up supplies to cook at the campsite.

Hipcamp is created with ❤️ and hope for our future.
