Welcome to Malakai campgrounds different by design šŸ• I purchased this land several years ago after a loss of a child a daughter her named was (little jo) JoLisa Marie Roadcap , it was a life changing moment, teaching me that family and enjoying of life is what it all about... so I want to welcome you here to Malakai for a peaceful and relaxing time, it's even a place that may help you heal from life hardships... At 5:30 just as the Sun comes up it is time for you to go out on to the deck and listen to the birds song šŸŽµ . As the Sun starts to rise on a new day āœØļø dozens of species of birds from the Great American Bald Eagle , To the endangered woodpecker, The blue herrings, bluebirds(we have mating pair that comes every year) blue jays, mocking birds, doves and several other species and occasionally a couple small black bears like walking through, we want you to have a peaceful and relaxing stay here while you visit everything, here at Garson Point were several species of carnivorous plants grow wild and our beaches have much to offer. It's official -- after 4 years of politics we are officially a park and a preserve.....9 acres of šŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļø trails šŸ‘£ we are still constructing trails by hand I believe this place has a spiritual strength to people of all nations History of our location Count De Galvez awarded a land grant on Garcon Point to Antonio Garzon following his 1781 Siege of Pensacola in consideration of ā€œhis good services rendered as an interpreter to the Indians of Pensacola." The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzonā€™s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay. The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Floridaā€™s oldest multi-cultural frontiers. The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay. Nearly 20 rare and endangered species of plants šŸŖ“ and animals make their homes along the bay and its wet prairies, dome swamps and flatwoods.

Quiet and Private
Although we didnā€™t finish our stay the full 5 nights, the camp was exactly as pictured. Itā€™s very private and peaceful. Joseph has done a great job on creating a native garden and preserving the natural habitat. He made sure we were settled in our first night, though considering how late it was, the conversation shouldā€™ve been shorter than 2 1/2 hours. He was good to continually check in on us daily, though the 3rd night we arrived back at camp at 10:30 and he came over to our camper, that was a bit much. At that point we left. He did follow up with a text asking if we could talk the next morning. I told him that we had checked out and where we left his fob for the gate. He then explained that he had bought an ā€œadapterā€ to help create privacy between us and the cabin we were next to. He thought we wanted further into the woods with our camper, however when I made the initial call to him I asked if there was shade, he said if we went farther into the tree line but we would also deal with more bugs. Upon arrival we parked next to where the electrical and water was since we had a camper. Again, it just wasnā€™t right for us. We appreciate the hospitality but also prefer, once we are there, let me contact you if we need something. My mixed feelings on referral would simply be just letting that person know all of this and if they are good with it then yes I would recommend Joseph and his Hipcamp, he is very nice!

Malakai Campground
The atmosphere was great! It was very quiet and laid back, the host Joseph was very friendly and informative. He even recommended us to a few places that were awesome and well worth the trip. The place is loaded with nature and native habitat. The shower house and washer and dryer were a huge perk to our stay.

Very quiet, secluded, close to the beaches but far enough away to get out of the busy city life. Showers and amenities are available and is a huge plus. Gated access as well! Very nice place.

What a wonderful way to start off our first Hipcamp experience! Everything was as advertised and Joseph was just a blessing! He was prompt to respond and then super welcoming and helpful upon arrival. Perfect little tent campsite in close proximity to a bathroom with a shower and access to water and an electric outlet. Brought our doggy and had a comfortable, peaceful nights sleep after a grill session over the campfire! Would definitely return if ever in the area! CHEERS!

Favourite Milton Camping
Joe was an incredible host and our stay could not have been better. Rustic accommodations but warm running water with good pressure in the bath house. Super friendly and helpful. Great location to Weberā€™s Skate World in Milton (for speed skaters 20 mins) and to Navarre beach (30 mins). Chill, relax, very safe and comfy.
