We live on a 19 acre hobby farm with chickens, ducks, a goose, a pig and a pair of sheep and miniature donkeys. There is a pond full of frogs and turtles. We have a swimming pool that we share with guests. We have a tree house with nature games and books, a wildflower labyrinth, a creek and about 3/4 mile of trails in the woods. We are located very near several conservation areas with extensive hiking opportunities (Rock Springs and Sand Creek). Decatur has a water park (Splash Cove) and Overlook Adventure Park has batting cages, miniature golf and a ropes course. The Children's Museum of IL and Scovill Zoo are also fun for the kids. The Decatur Wellness Collective is located nearby and offers massage, yoga, meditation, reiki and Float therapy. There are also several local breweries (Door 4 Brewing, Decatur Brew Works and Golden Fox Brewing). We are certain that you will enjoy your stay here!
Everything was lovely! Jim and Sara were wonderful. The camping space was very private and we were able to drive our van to the spot. We came when the cicadas were out and Sara had coloring pages and picture books ready for my two little ones to get them familiar to the big clumsy insects. By the end of my stay both of them were holding them in their hands. It was fun meeting the donkeys, chickens, ducks, pig and Walter the goose. Also, they gave us great recommendations where to go! What a wonderful place!
We had a wonderful time here walking our cat and making a fire as we passed through for the night. Jim gave us a kind welcome and showed us the best spot to camp. Thanks for having us Jim!
This stay made for a wonderful night under the stars and beautiful walking trails in the morning. Accommodations were perfect for our needs! Hosts were very kind and gracious.
We camped out here for our anniversary and had an amazing time, Jim and Sarah were incredibly accommodating, went above and beyond to make this a good experience for us. We will DEFINITELY be back. Beautiful property, the treehouse is even better in person than the pictures
We enjoyed our stay at Peaceful Prairie very much. It is a charming place, full of rustic beauty. Jim and Sara spent time with us by a campfire and we enjoyed the lively conversation.
My son and I took our homebuilt camper near Decatur and spent two nights on Jim and Sara's farm. They offered us more than one option of where to set up. We chose an out-of-the-way spot towards the back of their land where they also have a very cool treehouse.
Friendly people with friendly animals :-) We'd definitely return.
