We're bringing my family farm back to life. My parents farmed here until the 1980's, but couldn't make a profit with corn and soybeans. My husband, Nate, and I moved home in 2014, and started turning the fields into pastures. Today, we run Nightfall Farm, raise animals with respect, and sell pasture-raised meat locally. Come wander the 125 acres of woods, wetlands, and farm. Check out the animals in our pastures, and walk along the Muscatatuck River. Enjoy a quiet fire. Hear the roar of frogs calling in Spring. Chase fireflies. Behold a family farm coming back to life.We created the Sunrise Cabin as your getaway on our organic farm. This cabin is made from all sorts of repurposed and reimagined materials, so it's good for the planet and for you. The Sunrise Cabin has a wood floor, carpets, and a queen bed,  plus loads of windows so you really feel like you're in the forest (and you get a good cross breeze!). The cabin is in the woods and faces east, so you'll have a view of sunrise through the forest, right from your queen bed. The cabin is rustic, and outfitted with the basics - bedding, shelves, lights, a good ceiling fan, and two outlets. The French doors open onto the porch (the perfect place to read a book or do some yoga). You will have access to our brand new Outdoor Kitchen, including a real sink (with potable water), a two-burner propane stove, all the basic cooking/eating things (plates and utensils, mugs, electric hot water heater, french press, a few pots, sharp knives and cutting board, colander, etc). The Outdoor Kitchen is a shared space (but we only have two Hipcamp sites, so it's always pretty quiet!). Your own campfire ring and picnic table are right in front of the cabin and your private composting toilet is less than a minute walk away. Your parking spot is about 100' from the cabin.  Though we're an easy three-mile drive from the Interstate, you'll never know it when you're tucked away at the Sunrise Cabin. We built the cabin just behind our 1800's barn, so you'll have a sense of privacy - and, depending of the time of year, baby chicks for neighbors. There's limited cell service here at the farm, so you can unplug; the frogs, lightning bugs, and woods will keep you occupied instead! The Sunrise Cabin is small (about 12'x12'), and has a queen bed. It's really designed for two people, though you could lay out a sleeping pad/bag on the floor or porch if you needed to squeeze in another! If you're traveling with more than 2 people, just click "Add Additional Guests" or consider booking our Canvas Bell Tent. It's located about a 300' walk away, in the same woods, but you'll all have privacy because of the forest.  We built the cabin from old barn timbers, scrap wood, windows a friend was replacing, salvaged doors, and more. We actually used to list this site as a three-sided shelter, as you'll see in some photos...it was originally a horse shelter! In 2021, we converted it to a cabin, adding a fourth wall (with French doors and windows) and a nice 12'x6' porch. Our Farm (Nightfallfarm.com) is a sustainable livestock farm, where we raise animals on pasture and sell meat and eggs locally. There's lots to explore here at 125-acre farm: see our pigs, chickens, turkeys, and lambs; walk on our trails through our woods and restored wetlands; or stroll along the Muscatatuck River.  We can add on a casual farm tour where kids of all ages check out the farm animals and see how we're bringing this land back to life ($15 per person). Looking to spend time in nature? You'll be near lots of good options. Our farm is about 20 minutes from family-friendly paddling options and easy hikes at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge and Hardy Lake State Recreation area (bring your kayak or canoe!). It's about a 30 minute drive to our favorite hikes at Clifty Falls State Park and Jackson-Washington State Forest, where you can find steep hills and hollers, excellent views, fossils, creeks, and waterfalls.  Or try these neat, low-key outings nearby: 1. Paddle or hike in southeast Indiana. Loads of trails listed on Alltrails.com, and we can give some tips on easy flatwater paddling within a 30 minute drive.  2. Tastings, apple picking or a visit to the pumpkin patch at Huber Winery (or any other winery on the Indiana Wine Trail). 3. Madison, Indiana's many, many festivals (for Blues, try "RibberFest"; for arts, try "Chautauqua"; the list goes on!). 4. Visit Columbus, Indiana for architecture tours, local eating (try Upland Brewing's Pumphouse...their nachos feature our chicken), or the Corn Maze Beer Fest at 450 North Brewing.

Check out the stars!
What stood out more than anything else really was the hospitality. Liz was super warm and friendly , responsive to messages and accommodated our needs and asks. If going on a super chilly night, might consider taking or asking for an additional heater. It was 19 degrees during our stay and our heater couldn’t keep up. Thankfully the heated blankets kept our bodies warm!

Perfect getaway for two
It's like visiting an old friend. No amount of money could offer the feeling this place gave, from the warm welcome to the colorful personality of the farm cat. It was perfect. Would highly recommend, and Liz and Nate will definitely see us again.

Ahhh!! Perfect Place!
I loved my spur of the moment decision to get outta town (Cincinnati) and be in nature. I chose Nightfall Farm randomly. Ok, well I’m a newbie at the outdoors thing and I knew the Sunrise Cabin had a space heater AND heated blanket. But the camping Gods were watching over me that day! I mean, the bed was so comfortable, I’m mad I’m not still there!! It rained all night and to hear it on the tin roof . BONUS! But I digress! Liz, the host was great. She brought the wood over to the cabin even though I think we were both wondering if I would only need 1/2 of what I asked for! lol, I loved it there and will definitely be back in the spring. Nature cures everything!!

We loved staying in the cabin! It was clean and cozy, and we were comfortable even when it got very cold at night. We loved the outdoor kitchen and had everything we needed to make ourselves a nice meal. It was the perfect compromise between camping and a lodge. Liz and her family were excellent hosts, and we’re looking forward to going back!

Liz and Nate were so kind and helpful. Their farm and land is beautiful to spend a cozy weekend at the cabin, take long walks through the forest, and visit their animals. We forgot some food and they so kindly helped us out so we didnt have to go to the market. The cabin was such a dream. We both slept better than we had in months. We loved the outdoor firepit at night and it was so fun to cook in their outdoor kitchen. Highly recommend buying eggs from their farm. super delicious. I honestly cant say enough wonderful things about the time we spent at nightfall farm. Highly recommend if you need time to get away- replenish, nourish, and restore!

We had a really cozy stay in Liz and Nate's cabin! The tall ceiling and walls full of windows gave the feeling of being out in the woods with the comfort of a roof and four walls. I loved looking out at the silhouette of the trees behind the light of the half moon at night. It was a mildly cold November night when we stayed, but we stayed plenty warm with the quilt and heated blanket that are in the cabin. I was charmed by this southern Indiana gem - a farm that they steward with love and great care. Thank you for having us!
