The Kilns 4
A great getaway at RRG.
We absolutely enjoyed staying here. There was a storm coming in but there was a large deck/stage my wife and I watched it from. We usean RTT on our jeep and most if the land is a hill. We did find flat land near the deck. You can hear some road noise from mountain parkway, but it isn't that loud. Kimberly was a great host, meeting us and giving us the lay out with local eatery information. Our dog ran off leash most of the time, there was another camper we saw with a dog but we had very little interaction. We will definitely look here before booking anywhere else for our next hiking trip.

Best Campsite in the Red! 10/10!!!
I’ve been going to the red for over 10 years and stayed in several places, The Kilns is by far the best! The hosts (Kim & Scott) were absolutely terrific. They had great recommendations of things going on in the area, info on the best places to watch the sunset/sunrise, and were so nice and helpful. They helped set up our fire, brought us chairs and a canopy, the site was gorgeous and we were the only ones there which was so nice as many of the other campsites were really crowded. I will absolutely be staying here going forward.

Fireflies! Host Kim is amazing.
Kim is the hostess with the most-est! Gracious, helpful, informative, great at answering questions and resolving problems.
The Kils property is tidy, well kept, well appointed campsites with fire pits, chairs, good tent sites, and parking. Lots of room between campsites. Porta-potties, water, WiFi, shade trees, fireflies.
Access to abundant hiking trails and sightseeing. Close enough to town for food, gas, and amenities.
Would definitely go back. Would recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Kilns 3
Outdoor Enthusiasts Paradise
We stayed more than once so we get to write another review. This one is for the outdoor trekkers.
On the property is access to FOUR waterfalls. They are seasonal so the water flow is dependent on rainfall. There is no established trail so beware of snakes (copperhead population in this part of KY is high) and spiders. There are some game trails that you can follow down to the creek and then follow that to 3 waterfalls. We did not have time to go to the other side of the property to see 4th. The 3 we saw were about 60 ft, 30 ft, and 15ft in fall heights.
Plenty to explore back there, but be sure you talk to Kim and Scott so they know you are headed back, and so they can explain the property lines. We saw deer, bugs we've never seen before, various mushrooms and other cool looking plants, caves and overhangs, spotted newts, and various birds/rodents.
Also on the property are the large kilns which the campground gets its name. Scott and Kim are great at sharing the history of the property.
There is a big field behind the barn that they let us venture into. Every morning there were deer grazing. We saw some more game trails that we plan to explore on our next stay.

The Kilns
Easy time
We loved tent camping at the kilns. It was a last minute trip and Kimberly was able to meet us and give us a few papers about fun things going on in the area and good trails. We were able to park right next to the tent which was what we needed. There is a small pond with a few places to set up the tent around and one not far in the woods.
