When you want to get away to nature, what do you envision? We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers. That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Oh, and you will absolutely hear whipoorwhills, most likely at a time you'd rather not (we've decided they're charming). Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars. If you are looking for a space and place to reset and reconnect, The LAAAAND is waiting for you. There is something profoundly healing and soothing about time in nature. For some people, access to the natural world might be right outside your doorstep,  but for many of us, having access to nature requires driving somewhere for a hike or a camping trip.  Most of us end up in locations that are open to the public,  and that are shared with other visitors.  The Lookout at Raven Ridge is different; it is made up of 50 acres of wooded land and fields that adjoin 250 additional acres, all of which are privately owned and uninhabited.   During your stay, you will have access to all 50 acres, which include large rock faces, streams, and hiking trails, while knowing the other 250 are a buffer from the rest of the world! Pitch your tent on or near our expansive deck overlooking the Red River Gorge, and prepare to take in the views of sunsets, souring ravens, butterflies in the canopy and maybe a blanket of morning fog. Only minutes away from the Red River Gorge climbing spots located on Route 77, various Daniel Boone hiking access points, and a 10 minute drive to Cave Run Lake.  If you are into fishing, the East Fork Indian Creek River is about 20 minutes away by car.  According to their website "East Fork of Indian Creek can be a nice solitude fly fishing location with a couple miles of stream to explore. The stream underwent a restoration project leaving us with multiple plunge pools, plenty of rock/wood structures, and open banks for vegetation growth. Rainbow trout in the 8-14″ range are the main targets in Indian Creek, but they stock some browns too!" PLEASE BE ADVISED - There have been bear sightings in the area, so be sure to bring bear spray just in case.

Book it!
We cannot wait to book this again! Very peaceful and private camping. Plenty to explore on the property, Ravens Ridge trail is a must, especially during sunset. All that the RRG has to offer is just down the road from the property. IGA is only 15 minutes away, very convenient. Fresh water at the gate. We seen a pileated woodpecker our first morning, very fortunate for that experience. We were visited nightly by a whippoorwill. As with any outdoor activity you must be mindful of your surroundings. We watched a black widow walk through the site, it was not interested in any of us and we watched as sit made its way into the woods. We appreciate the host sharing this spacious property with us. Can’t wait to book again!

The LAAAAND (just you and 50 acres)
I loved how private it was. We were able to fit a 23 foot camper without a problem. Just make sure to get there during the day so you can see your way around. Well-kept deck. No mosquitoes.

The LAAAAND (just you and 50 acres)
This is one of my favorite areas to camp. Very private. I have camped here for a honeymoon years ago and this last time a father son trip. We all had a great time for any occasion!

Relax relax relax
Always a great spot to relax. Take the hosts comments to heart. There is very poor cell service and no clear view of the sky in the camping area for Starlink. This is a wonderful spot to disconnect and RELAX! One of our very favorite Hipcamps!

Beautiful, with scenic views
For the good: the campsite was beautiful and far back from the road. The hikes on the property were beautiful with the overlook being absolutely gorgeous. We had no trouble getting in but the drive looks like it would be a bit of a problem if it was muddy or snowy. Picnic table was a great addition as well as the pump for fresh water. Was close to Red River gorge hiking and sightseeing. The not great: there are many dead trees in the property with one or two of them standing right within the campsite. A tree fell within a 1/4 mile on the property while were there and was a grim reminder of what was literally hanging over the campsite. Obviously not the entire forest but around the campsite some tree felling needs done. Also, not the host fault, but there are some neighbor roosters that were non stop crowing from 5:30-7:30 every morning and a good bit of road noise at night.
