The Iberia Market Garden is private property and a project started in 2014 to bring healthy fresh vegetables and economic investment to the surrounding low-income neighborhood. The property has had various garden areas added over the years and is a great place to relax and meditate. Proceeds from Hipcamp go toward supporting garden upkeep and operations. Learn more about this land: The fenced-in site is in a well lived in, low-income, busy neighborhood of New Iberia. The hosts live in the small brick cottage in front. The property is surrounded by gardens for guests to enjoy. There is a 15AMP regular outlet to plug into and a nearby water hose for travelers to use.

Garden Parking & Off-grid Outhouse

We had a wonderful time at Phanat's property. The gardens are stunning, and Phanat himself is incredibly kind and deeply involved in the community. We had the chance to meet him and learn about his projects, which was very inspiring. The site is well-equipped, felt safe at night, and had everything we needed. There are dogs around—including two on the property who are super adorable and very welcoming :)—so some barking is to be expected. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Urban Oasis!

I would definitely recommend Phanat’s land! It is truly an oasis in the middle of an urban neighborhood. I am a solo female traveler with a camper van. Phanat is a gracious host. He went out of his way to accept my last-minute stay and accommodate me very comfortably and safely during a severe winter storm advisory. I was able to park my van inside a gated area that also had a friendly trained guard dog named Peanut and multiple security cameras. I had access to electric and complete bathroom facilities. I came to New Iberia to meet Father Michael Champagne of Saint Martinville (jesuscrucified.net) and was so impressed and overjoyed with his mission work in this community that instead of one night, I wound up staying for three nights. Phanat’s Iberia Market Garden is likewise an amazing sustainable homestead that provides fresh vegetables and employment opportunities for locals residents. I truly enjoyed my experience here and left rested and restored in my faith in what we can all do help each other out in our own unique ways. Thank you again and I hope to return soon!

Garden oasis

We loved staying at and supporting Iberia Market Garden! Phanat is an incredible and gracious host. We happened to arrive on a full-moon evening and got to participate in a full-moon yoga session hosted at the garden. Phanat has created a beautiful and nourishing oasis in New Iberia. We are grateful to have shared in the experience.

We loved Phanat's amazing and unusual place. It was peaceful and very interesting and waking up in a thriving community garden was wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable. Phanat's enterprise is very impressive and we also loved meeting his dogs, Peanut and Lithy. Definitely worth a side trip to New Iberia.

We booked last minute and Phanat was very responsive. He greeted us at the gate and helped us park and get settled. We flipped the breaker around 10pm and I sent a message and he came right out to help. We parked right by the garden and enjoyed some delicious ripe figs with breakfast. Peanut, the dog, was so helpful and great at entertaining our kids too! The off grid toilet and shower was a nice option to have too. It was an awesome place to stay. We loved that it was a unique place to stay and Phanat was so kind.
