The Evergreen Conservation Area was recognized as a federal conservation area starting in 2020. There are several miles of well maintained trails through the deep forest and along the pristine waterfront. This is a secluded conservation area with two remote cabins. This is a unique opportunity: you will have the entire conservation area and the two mini cabins just for your group.  (Even if you only have one person or a small group you are still welcome to reserve the site.)This is a secluded conservation area with two remote cabins. This is a unique opportunity: you will have the entire conservation area and the two mini cabins just for your group.  (Even if you only have one person or a small group you are still welcome to reserve the site.) The lake cabin and campsite are situated at a panoramic point on Black Brook Pond. Campers can choose to stay in the two cabins or camp in tents. There are 2 kayaks and a canoe available for no extra charge. The lake cabin is a single room cabin with one double bed and a bunk bed with sweeping lake views. The forest cabin is a single room cabin with two double beds and small open loft.  There are five beds total, but can sleep 8 if doubles are used.  (These are platform beds. Bedding is not supplied.) These are "primitive" cabins, they are solid, warm, and dry but have no running water, insulation or electricity.  Tents can also be set up for extra sleeping areas. Please note the pond is very shallow in this area so swimming is not available here but there are many lake and river swimming areas nearby.  Please note the parking area is a 10 minute walk from the cabins. This is not an RV camping site, sorry. (However you park an RV in parking area then walk to cabins and tent areas.) You may bring up to a total of 8 guests if you share a beds or use tents. Groups of over 8 people will be considered on a case by case basis. Please contact host for more information. Please note: this is not your typical drive up campsite. It is a short hike to your campsite and you need to collect your own firewood. However if you have done remote camping before or are excited to try new adventures, you will be able to enjoy a hidden spot of Maine! Because cabins are not heated, the season will close in November.

An incredible place to stay! The views are breathtaking, and the cabins are nice and cozy. The forest surrounding the area is perfect for nature lovers, and the kayaks provided an awesome way to explore. Worth every penny—a little piece of heaven. Highly recommended to anyone looking to experience Maine!

Perfect Spot for Humans and Dogs!
We LOVED our time at Dan’s camp. Very private with amazing views. We loved being so close to the water with kayaks and canoes on site. Our dogs had a blast running around through the different trails and swimming. The wildlife was amazing. Bring binoculars if you can! We definitely want to come back. If you are planning on going, I would recommend trying to pack light enough to only have to take one trip down to the cabin. It’s about a 10 min walk and we had to take a couple trips. Nothing too bad but if you have the opportunity to pack lightly, I would! Also, check out Moxie Falls while you’re in the area! We did the short hike on our way out and it was totally worth it.

Loved it!
Really enjoyed my 3 nights here! Absolutely beautiful and very private, which I liked. I didn’t see another soul the 4 days I was there. Explored the pond by kayak and saw lots of beautiful birds. Cold late-April nights (down to about 20f the one night I checked) made me wish I’d packed a warmer sleeping bag.

The lake front cabin was amazing! So quiet and peaceful. We also stayed in the cozy cabin which was perfect! Easy to find, even in the dark!

My friend and I stayed here for two nights and it was perfect!! The land is very private and provides a wonderful off grid experience. There were still a few loons when we were there at the beginning of October and being able to enjoy the scenery by canoe was an added bonus! Definitely pack light as there is a short hike to the cabin!

My partner and I very last minute wanted a place to stay after camping and hiking in the rain the previous day and Dan really hooked us up. The place was great + I couldn’t say enough kind things about the host! Thank you so, so much!
