Learn more about this land: You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals. Walking past the pond and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below. The cabin is furnished with a full sized futon, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights. Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin. A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor. The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sun sets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals and will provide ample space to respect your privacy. A small gas grill and cooler can be provided, Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Writer's Cabin

I proposed to my then girlfriend over my stay here! It was a fantastic site, beautiful views of the mud flats, we saw an abundance of animals as well. Quiet, serene, and a lot of fun. Would definitely recommend. The host family is incredibly friendly as well!

Terrific Stay!

Kate and Zach were wonderful hosts, and we loved learning about their homesteading adventure and meeting their charming children. The cabin was cozy and perfect for our needs and we enjoyed candlelit evenings. You'll want to bring a table and whatever cooking equipment you require; we brought a solar shower as well. The cabin is a distance from the parking spot, and the cart provided for hauling gear was welcome. The view from the cabin over the tidal creek is lovely, and it was fascinating to observe the water level oscillate with the tides. The kayaks provided are right there, making it easy to go out for a short paddle to visit the bald eagles, ospreys and shorebirds. Zach periodically leads the sheep into the pasture near the cabin, and they sometimes come to greet you as you pass by. The goats are also very friendly and curious, as are the chickens who come running like long-lost friends to greet you when you pass by. From this base of operations, you can get provisions in nearby Milbridge -- try The Knotty Lobster for great lobster rolls you can eat on a picnic table facing the ocean in the wellness park just across the road. If you plan to cook, the seafood at Chipman's Wharf is top notch. We spent a day hiking the extraordinary Great Wass Island preserve, 40 minutes north. At low tide, it is simply amazing. And to the south are the trails of Petit Manan NWR in Steuben. All in all, a great place from which to explore a great part of the Maine coast.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights in August and we loved it. The cabin was cozy and the farm was gorgeous. Kate and Zach were accommodating. I would recommend staying here.

I absolutely loved staying here. It was so peaceful and calming. I brought my string lights with me to help light up the cabin and enjoyed falling asleep reading each night. I felt safe staying here alone but wished I was able to bring my SO as it felt romantic.

Gorgeous cabin and location!

Wow! I really loved this place. Kate's cabin is so cute and thoughtful. Inside you'll find a comfy bed, candles, and a wood burning oven. The cabin is a quick walk into the woods from your car but Kate provides a wagon for transporting your things. Along your walk you'll get to see the horse, chickens, ducks, and goats. The outdoor area was the best tho. You have direct access to the water which rises and falls a whopping 12 feet, twice a day. So be sure to check the tide charts before you head out on the kayaks. There is a fire pit outside with wood provided and tons of forgeable kindling around. I would absolutely stay again. (:

Magical Experience!

We had the most amazing time on at the cabin. The location was beautiful and private. The cabin’s ambiance and cozy vibes were immaculate. Ample firewood and plenty of space to get snuggled up. Additionally, a magical marsh to explore behind the property at both low and high tide. The vastness of the stars and nature here just added to the experience. It was everything we hoped it could be and more. Can’t wait to come back ✨🌲
