Lake kayaking with eagles nest view
We had so much fun camping on Rayme and John's property! They provided free fire wood, a grill grate for cooking over the fire, and 4 shared kayaks! The lake is crystal clear and beautiful to kayak on because the water is so calm. There's an eagles nest on the right side of the lake past all the houses I highly recommend checking it out while kayaking. We also walked around the dirt road and driveway area and found a little sand dune area where you could 4wheel. We heard owls all night and they sung us to sleep. This is such a hidden jem and an amazing get away in the UP!

The Lonesome Loon
Best Labor Day Weekend in the UP!
We loved the Lonesome Loon! Rayme and John were fantastic hosts, and directions and how to use the property were very straightforward and easy to follow. There is a separate main house, bunkhouse, and outhouse -- all very close together. Kitchen area was fully stocked with everything needed to cook. There is a grill outside that was great to use as well. Bunkhouse was cozy as well. Kayaks available for use on the lake along with some floaties and pool noodles. Water was chilly as expected in the UP!

The Lonesome Loon
We couldn’t have had a greater first experience in the UP. We spent an extended weekend at the Lonesome Loon and toured the Marquette and Munising areas. The hosts are great communicators, friendly, very accommodating, gave us insider tips on where and when to go to avoid crowds and went beyond our expectations to make our stay memorable. The premises are well kept. Air is fresh, the forest surrounding the cabin had wild blueberries almost everywhere and the views were relaxing in any weather. There is a newly built pier with easy access to the shallow and warm lakefront which our kids loved. Sauna was cozy, authentic and easy to use. Kitchen is well equipped. Dutch door outhouse was thoughtful. Beds were comfortable and clean. The cabins have a very welcoming and homelike feel. John and Rayme are definitely star hosts.

The Lonesome Loon
Wonderful!
The Lonesome Loone is lovely! My kids and I had originally planned to visit the UP for mountain biking, but looking at the weather forecast, hauling bikes from MN didn’t seem worth it, so we shifted gears and decided to just relax with books and games for our long weekend. I was a little worried it would be too rustic for our plan but I was wrong. Comfy beds, cozy main cabin, the outdoor seating is fabulous and the lake is great for both fishing and swimming. The suana is wonderful on chilly evenings. Highly recommend!

The Lonesome Loon
Cabin on the lake!
The Lonesome Loon is a fantastic spot. We highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind on a beautiful lake. If you like grilling, fishing, kayaking, swimming and relaxing by a fire, then this is the place to do it. There's also plenty of things to do in the area and Marquette was an easy 30 minutes drive away. Rayme and John were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Check in instructions were very easy to follow which is always appreciated. We'd love to come back.
