My property (Lynx Run) has an amazing geological and historical background. During the last ice age, glacial waters carved out the ravine in which the Betts Creek flows.  Sometimes, the creek drops over 60 feet below the surrounding terrain as it meanders back and forth in oxbows as it flows toward the Muskegon River.  It was once the hunting, foraging and camping grounds of the Potawatami Indians.  In the late 1800's it was at the center of the Michigan Timber Industry.  Running along the edge of my property is the old railroad bed where timber was once hauled away.  Only two miles from my home, the logs were sent down the side of the hill and into the Muskegon River on log chutes and then floated to where the Muskegon empties into Lake Michigan.  Piles of field stones indicate that after the timber industry moved on, farmers moved in and attempted to tame the land.  But, fortunately for me, the land was abandoned by the farmers and has returned to a much more natural and pristine state.  My land is now a part of the Manistee National Forest and I am surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful land (both public and private).  I am the only person who lives back here in this part of the forest, so seclusion and privacy are wonderful and the wildlife and beauty is abundant.

Cabin
What an incredible place... the cabin, the property, the art. Every inch of Lynx Run exudes earthy creativity. It feels like it has its own grounded soul. So inspiring.

We hope to return!
We loved our stay at Lynx Run! The camp site was very secluded, which we like. The grounds close to Rob's home are stunningly beautiful -- a gem buried in the wild Michigan forest. Rob, the host, is so gracious, welcoming, and interesting. His home is brimming with art and antiquities. The only downsides were that it was a bit of a hike to use the in-house bathroom and shower (which were very nice!), so we regretted not having brought a portable toilet. The gravel road to get to Lynx Run was pretty narrow and rutted. But the upsides far exceeded the downsides!

We had a great time tent camping here! The site was beautiful, we had so much fun running around the woods with our three dogs and playing in the streams. The property is gorgeous. Robert was a wonderful and accommodating host. We will be back again!

Robert was an incredible host! His home and the land on which it stands is absolutely stunning, he was so thoughtful and accommodating. There was both privacy and the opportunity for community with other folks staying and there are so many areas on the property to enjoy! We had an incredible time and highly highly recommend!!

Beautiful location, wonderful host
We really enjoyed camping at this site, it's secluded enough that we had our privacy and own space, but still close enough to all the amenities to be very convenient. The land is gorgeous and Robert has clearly spent a lot of time taking care of it. He was such a gracious host and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, we really appreciated his hospitality. We also saw and heard so many beautiful birds, so nice to wake up to. The location is also close to so many great day outing options. Thanks Robert!
