This old homestead belonged to my belated uncle Steve, and after he passed unexpectedly, I had returned to Minnesota from California and wanted to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for those interested in sharing a peaceful and modest property. The old barn is a work in progress to eventually become the base to accommodating more travelers and outdoor enthusiasts as finances permit. After working in the service industry bartending for 14 years and hosting 100+ global travelers via CouchSurfing out of San Diego, I am well versed in creating an inviting space, it has been a fulfilling endeavor. We look forward to meeting you and sharing/swapping stories around the campfire! Learn more about this land: Our property and profile are in constant change as we are in a stage of development, but we look to share our land with those seeking to enjoy a warm, welcome environment for those fellow wanderers, outdoor enthusiasts, vagabonds, and globetrotters. I am a well-traveled backpacker myself and share 5 1/2 acres with my father here in a bustling little touristy town. We enjoy the company of those who endorse small footprint, sustainable practices and like to establish meaningful connections.  All we ask is that you respect the property, our neighbors, and make an effort to add one more new friend before you depart.

Tumbleweed Base Camp
Simple, but comfy and welcoming.
I’m hesitant to review because they only have a few spots and i wish we could keep it a secret😂I wish them the best in their endeavor so I will share. It’s close to the road, but they have set up little havens. The community fire pit is behind their home so you can easily forget the road. Their little property is surrounded by trees, so it feels cozy. I would happily live in the barn they set up. It’s older but the vibe is great for parties, solitude, bookreading, conversation, or family style eating around the table. I only stayed one night, but I am already searching my calendar for another stay. You can’t beat the location IMO. So close to the Rec area and the big lake/town.

Partake of Nature Therapy!
We stayed at the Tumbleweed Base Camp and did partake of all the Scerenity of Nature around us. Was wonderful therapy to slow down the pace of our lives and embrace restoration and rejuvenatiom. Although ourstay was very short...We thoroughly enjoyed the gracious hospitality of David and his son. Logan. They were such a hoot and went out of their way to be personable and helpful. We loved the barn too! Please have them show you around the property and tell you all the heartfelt stories from their travels abroad. To get the true effect of their artistry...you gotta visit the barn at night and play bumper pool. (Which we had fun playing for the first time ever-Logan kicked my ass!) Loved their beautiful spirit and creative artistry and passion to serve people. I've adopted them as part of my extended family. We enjoyed the nature, the group campfire socialization and roasting weenies on the fire and playing my ukelele. We even visited a coffee shop, tasted local cuisine, and basked in sunrays along the beach which is only a few minutes away. That coffee shop they recommended was wonderful!... like drinking a work of coffee art! Our most sincere Gratitude to David & Logan! Thanks for sharing your piece of heaven on earth with us!

Wonderful visit to Tumbleweed! Beautiful setting, charming hosts, quiet camping, clean porta potties. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. I look forward to visiting again. Highly recommend.

Tumbleweed Teepee for 2
We got into town and booked a camping spot late in the evening. We planned to car camp. The host responded immediately, confirming our camping spot. He was very helpful and available for questions. The property was well kept and safe. We will definitely stop again on our way back through.
