Great amenities, beautiful property
The camping setup at the Choo Choo was exactly what my husband and I were looking for as we sought to "get away" for our anniversary. You can choose your experience, from primitive to almost cabin camping.
Because our stay included a few thunderstorms, we decided to stay at the traincar, but opted to put up our tent on the covered porch. This kept us well protected from the rain, and we were able to prepare our meals on the propane grill on the porch. There is also a small charcoal grill if you'd rather.
The boxcar was well fit out with a small kitchen, a larger sized mini fridge, sink with running hot and cold water, and various pots, pans, and utensils. Even a hot plate (didn't heat very high) and a slow cooker.
The bathroom with flushable toilet, sink and door is inside the hallway.
The entrance/bedroom is a rustic little space with an air mattress on a platform, fan, and a small window ac unit. There is also a small electric heater if you need, which we did.
Two outdoor showers with hot water top off the amenity list. It was great fun showering with a view to the wetlands just beyond the site.
We arrived at night so didn't really have the lay of the land before heading to bed. We were awakened by a loud metal-dragging sound from the woods. Bryan, who is a super host, assured me no one was on the property but us. The next day when we were able to explore, we found a deer feeder, which was likely dropping food on an automated schedule. Mystery solved.
