Sycamore Springs Campground offers a serene riverside escape with electricity and a warm, welcoming host named Harley. Visitors enjoy activities like fishing, hiking, and exploring nearby attractions such as the Castor River Shut-Ins. The host is known for being accommodating and friendly, often going out of his way to ensure guests have what they need, including firewood and local tips. However, there have been isolated reports of discomfort due to the host's behavior, which potential campers might consider.
This was a beautiful spot! However we probably won't come back because of a few things. First, there was a dog who showed up and would not leave. I love dogs, but this dog just wouldn't leave, and she was sweet but in our faces the whole time. The owner finally came to get her as we were packing up to leave the second day. Second, it wasn't super private, we were in pretty close quarters to other campers maybe 50 yards? If it was more peaceful I would definitely recommend it, but it just wasn't quite the normal secluded hipcamp experience.
Beautiful property right on the Caster River and minutes away from Caster River Shut Ins. It was the perfect, peaceful spot for a weekend getaway. Harless was extremely accommodating and friendly. We will be back!
The riverfront tent camping spot was the perfect place to relax. We watched a deer & fawn come out of the woods to take a drink. It was easy to book and find. Harley was friendly and helpful, making sure we had firewood and met us shortly after arrival. Best place to camp along the Castor River! You can walk right down from your campsite and swim, float or go fishing. Evenings were quiet & other campers were too. Highly recommend! Our dog loved it too! Great small campground.
We will definitely be back! This campground is right on the water with all of our favorite amenities. The host was super nice and it was raining when we arrived, he brought us a canopy to borrow so we didn't have to stay in our car after the long drive! This campground is also about 2 miles from the Castor Shut-ins which we were at for hours every day.
The waterside sites are amazingly peaceful and beautiful. Harless goes above and beyond to make sure you're all set. This was a very spontaneous stay but we will definitely be back
