Boondocking RV Site 3
Good place for one night
It's a small campground with small sites very close from each other. If you want privacy choose an other campground.
Restroom and showers were clean and the staff is kind and helpfull.
If you don't have a car, it's not the best place to stay. There's not a lot of interesting places around. Black sandy park is just a developed beach. But if you go to the dam and follow the trail, you'll have a beautiful view of the river.
Tent Site 1
*Note: The night we stayed, there was terribly high winds that pulled half the tent stakes out of the ground and had us shivering in spite of layers of warm clothes and warm sleeping bags; obviously not something the host can control, so I’m trying not to let that situation color my opinion of an otherwise lovely, clean, well organized campground. But it might anyway, so take that into consideration.
The Good:
The showers/bathrooms are the nicest camping bathrooms I have ever seen! They were our saving grace after the cold wind!
There is wifi!
The camp store has any of the necessities you may have forgotten.
The host was just lovely!
The Not as Good:
The tent sites are not marked in any way, and as there aren’t any trees to separate them, it was difficult to tell from the map we were shown where the sites were. As we were the only tenters, this wasn’t a major issue, but if the other sites were being used, it might be.
On a similar note, there was 1 fire pit for all 6 tent sites. We were only staying 1 night on our way through, and weren’t planning to cook, but if you’re tenting and planning to cook meals, it could be an issue.
Wifi doesn’t reach down to the tent sites, and there isn’t any cell service, so we had to go up to the showers to make calls, etc.
The ground is naturally very rocky, which was hard on tent pegs. Difficult to drive them in far enough and at least 1 got bent.
Overall: Not a bad place for camping but would recommend much better for RV’s.
