Enjoy the majestic beauty of the Taos Valley from the fields and cerros of the Dragonfly Mountain Ranch! Whether a seasoned traveler or one's first visit to Taos our goal is to exceed expectations, and we have a variety of campsites to accommodate various needs and tastes. Our motto is "No Cramped Camping!", and with spacious camp sites that are hundreds of yards apart and in various locations quiet time is just that - quiet. Pure gold for those looking to truly unplug and disconnect from everyday stresses and obligations. While here one can see history come to life by way of our living history ranch and historic home, one of the first homesteads in Des Montes owned by the same family for over 150 years. See firsthand how the unique Acequia system of NM has given life to the surrounding pastoral fields and the agricultural practices of the past still relevant in the Taos Valley today. For those wanting the best of both worlds, access to in-town activities as well as trail/hiking/river adventures, the Des Montes sites would be the best selection. Close enough to town for groceries/conveniences along with other sought after tourist attractions such as the Taos Pueblo, Taos Plaza and surrounding galleries/shops. In addition, Arroyo Seco and Arroyo Hondo are quaint little villages less than 10 minutes away for for addt'l groceries/market/restaurants options. Taos Pueblo - 15min Taos Business District - 15min Taos Plaza - 15min The Gorge Bridge - 20 min Ojo Caliente Hot Springs - 1hr John Dunn Hot Springs/Day Recreation area - 15min Taos Ski Valley - 30min Rio Grande Del Norte Nat'l Monument - 30min Despite accessibility to endless activities just minutes away there remains a sense of solitude, space and privacy that one would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. The Des Montes campsites provide 20+ acres mix of pasture land, canyon and timber to hike and explore with the pups, family or on solo adventure. Taos Plateau Location - Two Sites However, if feeling more adventurous and an Overland expedition is calling your name, the Tio Willy's locations on the Taos Plateau (Rio Grande Del Norte Nat'l Monument) would be a perfect choice. Rejuvenate the heart and soul with 300+ spacious acres to roam, hike and explore. Not to mention the breathtaking views of the entire Taos Valley from top of the cerro located on the property. With only TWO campsites at this location there are 360 degree views, solitude and privacy with no comparison. Despite the fact there is plenty of ground to cover within the property boundaries there is no shortage of additional hiking trails on Rio Grande Del Norte Nat'l Monument land which surrounds the property. Cerro Chiflo, Cerro Montoso and the Miner's Trail are within driving/hiking distance. Spend a day down on the banks of Rio Grande and unwind around the campfire and while stars light up the dark skies. Your next adventure awaits...hope to see you soon!

I think the only problem I think we had was the mosquitoes with all of the water laying around that could’ve been a heads up just for me not for anybody else. I’m new to is him Hipcamp stuff and I didn’t think about mosquitoes but other than that we enjoyed it tremendously. It was very isolated and I loved it for my first time out.

La Cañada de Adelaida - Des Montes
Don was an amazing host- so friendly and helpful. He gave me a tour of his family’s land which is beautiful. My spit was very private and quiet, just what I was looking for. I will be back again, thank you!

La Cañada de Adelaida - Des Montes
Plenty of Sun and shade with trees everywhere. Very quiet and relaxing getaway from city. I really enjoyed sitting around the camp fire in the evening. I can't wait to come back again.

Tio Willy's Rest Stop-Taos Plateau
We camped in our SUV. It was very remote and quiet. Lots of space. Nice views. Our dog loved to roam free on the property. The drive involved a lot of dirt road driving which may not be for everyone. If you're looking for a remote space with no one around, I would recommend.

Don't Pass This Up!
Our experience at Dragonfly Mountain Ranch was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth by our host, Don! He helped us get parked and set up-even in the rain! The campsite itself was a nature lover's paradise. You are literally surrounded by 360 degrees of breathtaking views! It offered the perfect blend of tranquility and adventure. What truly set this experience apart, however, was the hospitality of Don and all of his wonderful friends. They went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was unforgettable. Whether it was recommending the best spots to explore, sharing fascinating stories about the area, or simply checking in to see if we needed anything, their genuine care and attention to detail made us feel like family. In addition, Arroyo Seco is a cute little village just a couple miles up the road. Arroyo Seco is full of local shops and little restaurants! Check out the Taos Cow for ice cream, coffee and yummy sandwiches! It's a great spot to take a break and sit out back by the river! Our time at Dragonfly Mountain Ranch exceeded all expectations. We left feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and grateful for the opportunity to connect with nature and wonderful people like Don. We can't wait to return and create more unforgettable memories in this magical place. Highly recommended to anyone seeking a truly remarkable camping experience!

Magical Trip to Taos
Dragonfly Mountain Ranch is, hands down, incredible (and full of history!). It has spectacular 360 degree views (including the stunning Sangre de Cristo mountains/Wheeler Peak), and was the perfect spot to disconnect. D.T. and his family are beyond wonderful, generous, communicative and helpful. We brought our 3y/o son, two pups and 24ft. travel trailer — and had so much room to roam (we do recommend having 4WD) and unwind. We felt extremely safe, had plenty of privacy and couldn’t get over the views. I HIGHLY recommend stopping here to explore Taos, Arroyo Seco and surrounding areas. Thank you, D.T. and family!
