Family-friendly
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
This is a non-smoking, no candle facility. The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. Now we welcome adults, and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge. There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please). NOTE: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.

Tecolote 1 Treehouse
Hummingbirds and yoga
Ciana and Brad were the ideal hosts. Very friendly and knowledgeable, ensuring the land was clean and safe. They shared different trails we could use on the massive property. It has everything you needed! We stayed in the treehouse and it kept the rain out during a torrential downpour, even though it was rustic. The fire pit was lovely and we met many friendly fellow campers. The views were great and the lovely hummingbirds everywhere added to the ambiance. We hiked to the valley and it was gorgeous and well marked. The highlight was the peaceful yin yoga class led by Mishu.

Mustang Bunkhouse
A Bunkhouse for the Weekend.
I kind of don’t want to leave review and make this place known more publicly for fear that it is over run with people, but I cannot lie in saying that we all had a fantastic time. The amenities were great! The hosts were great! The ambiance was great! I do plan on returning as soon as I can get away from work again. Wonderfully relaxing from start to finish.

Tecolote 2 Treehouse
My family enjoyed the treehouse cabin. The cabin was fun to stay in. I loved the open windows and the screens one the sides so you had a large view. I worried it was going to be too hot but it wasn’t. At night we even got a little chilly. The showers were a good size and had a private dressing area in the shower. We did Archery and Tomahawk throwing, we had fun with those. The views were amazing and hiking and exploring was fun. My kids and dogs had a wonderful time! I completely would recommend!

Tecolote 1 Treehouse
Absolutely great glamping. It's so peaceful. I stayed I'm telocote 1 and it has 4 beds 1 full 3 twin. A portable potty near and picnic tables. Down the road is everything you may need. Volleyball birdbath house flushing toliets community kitchen rock wall archery. The tree house has shutters which I wish were on all windows I recommend taking a couple sheets to pin over the screens for added privacy. I will be back again
