Nestled within the picturesque Karuah River catchment area, Fernbrook is a working poultry and cattle farm, set over eight peaceful acres, and just five km away from the historic Stroud township. Spend evenings around the firepits (when fire restrictions are not in place), roasting marshmallows and stargazing under the night sky. Mornings are filled with the melodies of birds and wildlife, allowing you to truly reconnect with nature. Encounter local Red Necked Wallabies, Eastern Grey Roos, and the occasional Echidna. A haven for birdwatchers, the area teems with bird life, including King Parrots, Eastern and Crimson Rosellas, Kookaburras, Yellow Tailed and Glossy Black Cockatoos, satin bowerbirds, and various honey eaters. Mill Creek, which runs through the property, offers Bass fishing and summertime paddling and swimming opportunities. There is a short walking trail along the eastern bank of the creek to another small picnic area. Keep in mind this trail was created by and is shared with the local wildlife. Adventure awaits just minutes from our property, as kilometers of public bush tracks cater to hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts. Alternatively, explore the charm of Stroud, with its country pub, golf club, shops, cafes, and free public swimming pool. Local conveniences include our friendly country butcher and IGA supermarket. With roots dating back to the late 1820s, Stroud boasts a rich history as the headquarters of the Australian Agricultural Company. Join us each July for the renowned Stroud Brick throwing competition! The camping area is caravan-friendly, but mindful access during wet weather is crucial to preserving the landscape. Fernbrook welcomes your furry companions too but requires dogs to be supervised and leashed at all times for their safety and that of our livestock. Leaving dogs off-leash may lead to eviction without refund, and any harm to livestock or dogs must be avoided. Basic amenities include a toilet (please bring your own environmentally friendly toilet paper) and shower. Campers may use our rainwater to fill their tanks, and hot water connections are available, with campers providing their own gas bottles. A small kitchenette equipped with a sink, cupboards, microwave, and power outlets for fry pans is available, with clear labeling of personal belongings. We provide firepits for your enjoyment and offer firewood upon request for a fee. Alternatively, campers may bring their own firewood. Please remember to take all waste with you upon departure. The designated camping area is set on a beautiful area of the property, overlooking the creek, with plenty of space to choose your own private nook. There is easy access for vehicles and caravans, keeping in mind the weather, as in all areas it becomes soft when wet. Campers must stay within the designated camping area whilst on the property, remembering Fernbrook is a working poultry and cattle farm, but there is plenty to enjoy in this area of the property and also lots to do in the local area. Campfires are permitted in the provided firepits dotted around the camping area, and you are welcome to purchase firewood onsite or BYO firewood. Please note fires are not permitted when local restrictions are in place. The camping spots are at most 200m walking distance from the toilet and shower. There is a small kitchenette with sink, cupboards, microwave and power outlets for fry pans, etc. Any items left in this area must be clearly labeled with owners name etc. Please bring your own environmentally friendly toilet paper. There is rainwater if required to fill your tanks, and hot water connections are available however campers must supply their own gas bottles. Fernbrook is pet friendly but please supervise at all times, keep dogs on a leash for their own safety. If dogs are seen off leash you may be asked to leave, and there will be no refund of any payments. Dogs chasing livestock may result in the livestock or the dog being injured. We kindly ask that you take all waste with you on departure.

Fantastic...we will be back!

We loved Fernbrook. Very easy to find and heaps of good spots for camping. Close to town if we'd forgotten anything or if we wanted to go to the pub. It's nice to know there was a shower and toilet on site, although being self contained we didn't need it. We will definitely be going back for another stay!

Australia Day adventure

We had a great time at Brett's place. The sites are ideally located with good proximity to town for supplies but far enough out to make it feel remote. Brett is a very hospitable host and was there daily to check in. There's a beautiful river that runs along the back of the site and we spent many hours swimming. Pro tip is to bring some water reef shoes to negotiate the rocky river beds. The site itself is huge with fire pits and plenty of space for people to have a private area. Brett was also kind enough to bring up two of his horses for the kids to ride. It's not a usual thing as I understand it but something he plans to offer guests in time. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in that part of the world.

What a great spot! Peaceful
26 ft pop-up camper
Brett’s land is well kept, the amenities are just what you need (a shower & toilet), there is power at the amenities area along with a microwave and kettle. There is a rain water tank also. The creek on the property is easily accessible and a great tranquil spot. The view of the night sky was incredible! We will definitely be back, we had a fantastic time.

Great opened grassed area with a beautiful creek to cool off. Never gets over crowded. The host Brett is awesome. Always makes sure everything is going well and even gave our kids the opportunity to ride his horses.
