My name is Jason and I am responsible for caring and creating this space. Gondwana Retreat is sacred land. It is sacred to the original people as two rivers meet here which was auspicious, and sacred to me and all that visit. The Aboriginal people used to live and commune here. And now it seems a place where people like to be, and Rest and Rejuvenation - even healing happens here. Since moving here myself in 2014 it has been a place of transformation and change. The land itself was abandoned with rubbish and weeds everywhere when I arrived and with a bit of hard work, some patience and care it has become a place of beauty. It has been returned to much more of its natural and native state. This process of positive change has created a healing in the environment and for myself, and visitors express this magic in the air. Nowadays we are offering meditation, yoga, and therapeutic types of practices in the main home that the land and campsite is a part of. Campers are welcome to join and this really makes staying here an opportunity for exploring these practices if you choose. Be good to share the land and we welcome all to Gondwana retreat! The campsite land is called Gondwana. It’s a private and free space in nature close to beaches, bush, and the lakes of the beautiful Central Coast. It’s also very close to amenities and the shopping and restaurant/cafe districts of Erina and Gosford and the very popular beach cultures of Avoca, Terrigal, and Bouddi Nat. Park.  The land hosts healing and meditation type retreats and has a morning meditation group 5am most mornings that visitors are welcome to join (By donation).  The site is connected to bushwalking tracks, and by the lake so kayaking , fishing and water sports are possible-tide dependent. Campfires are permitted - but this is seasonal and dependent on conditions.  There are rustic showers and compost toilets available in this very earthy, yet central location. It’s an all round great place to stay in nature, yet in the modern world too! Come and enjoy.

The campsite at Gondwana offers a mix of natural serenity and convenient amenities, making it a popular choice for campers. Guests have praised the friendly host, Jason, for his helpfulness and the beautiful surroundings, including access to a scenic creek and walking trails. However, some visitors noted the proximity to a main road and occasional noise from neighboring areas, which may affect light sleepers. Despite some drawbacks with facilities like the portaloo, the overall experience is positive, especially for those looking to enjoy nature with easy access to nearby attractions.

Such an amazing stay! Jason was a great host, the place was really cozy. Had access to the toilet inside the house which was really nice, as well as fresh water from the kitchen tap. Lots of access to wood for fire.

A lovely backdrop of paperbarks and palms. We were met on arrival, had all the assistance we needed, and were excited to explore the walk that took us to a beautiful view of the Brisbane waters. Bring your mozzie spray, set up your camp, and sit back and relax by the fire. The host could not be more helpful, and we really enjoyed our stay!

We had a great time at Jason’s property! The directions to camp were very clear and Jason was there to show us where everything was when we showed up. The weather had been pretty rainy in recent weeks so we were glad to have 4WD to get to camp - there only seemed to be one small spot where we needed it, but still. It rained all night so we couldn’t hear the cars from the road nearby at all. The bathroom (a portaloo) was clean and stocked with soap and tp. Thank you Jason!

I really enjoyed the stay! Had to leave a day early due to chance of rain. Jason was really nice and helpful! And did stay in contact throughout stay to ensure we were enjoying it! I really enjoyed the sound of nature that this place brought as well. Be prepared for leeches and mozzies. But lighting a fire will be your best friend! 100% recommend this place as a place to stay. Car access is available to where you are sleeping!

Backyard camping near busy highway
Group trip
The main house is just meters away with plenty of guests. The house is higher than the camping area and throughout the night the lights are on without any window curtains. So, if you are outside the tent, you can't avoid seeing the light. There is another permanent tent setup around 100 meters from the camping site which plays music like music festivals until after 2 am. In a way the music is good, because once it is turned off the noise of heavy vehicles and small vehicles alike will keep you awake. For the price, it is a rip-off. If you are a light sleeper avoid this site. Overall, below average experience. It's more like camping in your backyard near a busy highway.
