Relax and unwind at our Land For Wildlife property, Melaleuca @ One Mile a boutique hostel and campground set on 6 acres of natural bushland in beautiful Port Stephens and only a 500m walk from the sparkling waters of magnificent One Mile Beach in Boat Harbour. It is located just past Anna Bay village which is 2.5km away and the entrance to Worimi Conservation Lands the largest moving Sand Dune system in the Southern Hemisphere, where you can 4WD, swim, surf, or enjoy a camel or horse ride. We have off-street parking with the car park area alongside the only car-free campground in Port Stephens. A large open grassed area surrounded by large melaleuca trees is perfect for throwing down a swag or setting up a tent for camping. You are not limited to a small site, you can use as much space as you desire, and we ask that guests respect others and give each other some room. In addition to the camping area, there is a small off-street, shaded area for a small number of campervans, there are no powered sites and sorry but we do not take caravans. All guests have access to the facilities including warm showers and toilets, a large Main building housing double kitchens with crockery and cutlery, toasters and kettles. There are indoor and outdoor covered seating areas and a free gas BBQ on the decked area with free Wi-Fi available. The Tomaree Peninsula has 26 beaches with numerous walking trails, including the recently upgraded Tomaree Coastal Walk and plenty of water activities including Dolphin and Whale watching cruises, diving, surfing, kayaking, fishing and snorkelling. Nelson Bay is the main tourist centre with plenty of restaurants and cafes and there are more clubs and food options dotted around the peninsula.

The campsite offers a peaceful and convenient location, just a short walk from the beach and shops. Guests appreciate the spacious, shady spots with clean, well-maintained facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen and clean bathrooms. However, some visitors noted issues with noise from animals and nearby roads, and a few interactions with the host were less than pleasant. Overall, the majority of campers enjoyed their stay, highlighting the friendly atmosphere and ample amenities.

On arrival the dogs welcomed us with open paws. We loved being able to pitch the rooftent amongst the trees. The bathroom facilities were very clean and common area kitchen relaxed and inviting. A unique location.

Absolutely beautiful part of the world. Just minutes away from One Mile Beach and just a quick drive to Anna Bay shops. Super convenient location. Loved the shady spots and palm trees on the property. Owners are friendly and welcoming, and it was a pleasure to deal with. Will come back.

Rude owner, terrible host

Never again at this place! We have requested in advance to Mike (that presented himself as the owner), to help us stay together with our friends (as we were in a Van, and our friends in a tent). They never return our messages, and when we arrive, they mention that tents and Vans could not stay together, because of safety. We found a spot where we could stay together safely, but Mike was VERY RUDE and didn’t accept our request. We request to cancel, but he told us that we could only handle it thru the website (clearly he was not helping us at anything). In addition they have dogs in their property, and this 2 dogs made a mess with our bin and also when we were mounting and unmounting our tent… Toilets not always clean.. When was our last day, because he put us far from our friends, we took longer to handle all the stuff to unmount our friends tent, and was also raining to help :(. When the rain stopped we started running to leave on time, and Mike started to accelerate us to move our Van out. His behavior is really what drives this place down… There are other nice places in the same region, with nice hosts, eager to support guests.. Honestly, this place is a nightmare! Don’t waste your time there…
