Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. There are Alpacas and Sheep, Kangaroos, Wombats, Kookaburras, Echidnas and many other animals that enjoy this property. The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm. The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape. There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance. A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc. Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter. Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated. All Guests are required to have an acceptable camp toilet, no holes in the ground. All river access points are shared, be mindful of others. As dogs are welcome and even well behaved dogs will be dogs when it comes to their family, all guests are advised to make themselves known prior to going near another's camp site, then there is no surprises either way. May common sense prevail. Thank you for visiting the farm. The Flats campground is located near the river, the terrain is flat ground suitable for tents, camper trailers, camper vans, small to medium Winnebago. Bring Shade. The terrain across the property is a mixture of mountain, hills, level flats and wetland areas with the river flowing through the middle.  Guests are required to be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There are deer, kangaroos, wombats, alpacas, sheep, echidnas, kookaburras and the usual wildlife you would expect, including many different birds, making this place a birdwatchers' paradise. Access to the shared river flats area is by way of Gate situated at main Orchard entrance. You can swim, fly fish, relax and BBQ by the river. The other side of the property is across the river and approximately 230 acres of natural bushland, including Little Brown Mountain and creek flats, perfect for hiking and exploring and excellent for photographers. Bemboka township is 8 - 10 minutes away with the iconic Bemboka Pie Shop selling fresh baked bread, cakes and small convenience items. There is a town swimming pool and country pub with restaurant. There is NO SERVICE STATION. The closest fuel is in Candelo or Bega, about 20 to 30 minutes away. At Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge, there is no water source other than the river or our crystal clear bore water which is accessible via tap within the orchard paddock. The river is around 1/2 a meter deep and clear with low banks near the flats camping area.

Very Nice
Tent
I stayed here for a very relaxing 3 weeks. The place was very quiet and the creek a lovely place to relax, wash and collect drinking water. I was so lucky to just get the end of the mandarin season at their orchard which has plenty of different fruits available.Bemboka is a lovely little town as was Bega. Ben, Paula and Joe were all lovely and I truly appreciate them having me for the time I was here. Definitely recommend!!

Host was very nice and accommodating. Our site was large, very private and the creek was just outside the gate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice spot! The animals were friendly, the view of the mountain is awesome (it was misty as the name suggested) and the sites were well spaced out. Walked over to the orchard and that site looks equally as good.

Tent
Good patch, would be great for families or a group of mates keen to have their own camp spot for a while, no neighbours.

Great camp site, very clean and well maintained. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Creek was low when we went but very clean and deep enough to cool down. Had some shade in the afternoon with the trees but would recommend taking extra shade for the middle of the day. Plenty of wood around the property for the fire pit. Lots of cute animals up on the hill (especially the goats). 5 minutes to local town, 35 mins to Bega. 45 to the beach. Thank you Ben for a very pleasant stay.
