Set on 350 acres we offer self-contained campers the opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle and take some time out in this beautiful bushland retreat. Our site is exclusive use so you and your group can chill out with the company of kangaroos by day and firelight and stunning stars by night. Just over 2 hours drive from Sydney CBD we are in the heart of Darkinjung Country, bordered by the Wollemi and Yengo National Parks. Enjoy the spectacular views as you wind your way along Putty Road passing through farmland, bushland and past rural post boxes. Our property has a 7km walking track around it with a beautiful valley, interesting rock formations, 1 million trees (or so we have been told!) and creek crossings to navigate. Keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos, wombats, koalas, goannas and all manner of native birds and plants. We also have a shallow creek a stone's throw from the camping site, perfect for paddling or exploring. If the peace and quiet gets a little too quiet(!) nearby activities include horse-riding, off-road driving, and the Hunter Valley wineries are just over an hour’s drive away. We (Mark, Sam and Whiskey the labradoodle) can’t wait to welcome you to our little piece of bushland paradise. Other things to note: - There are no facilities at the campsite, so self-contained campers only (you need your own toilet). - The nearest shops are an hour's drive away so make sure you bring all food and drinking water for your stay. - The property is off-grid with limited phone reception (Telstra only). - Camp fires are allowed except during fire bans and free firewood is available. - The maintenance of the track is dependent on when we last worked on it, so you may find yourself creek jumping and making your own path through the vegetation (things grow fast at Putty!). We suspect the track may also be fun for mountain biking but not being mountain bikers ourselves we hope some keen mountain bikers will come and explore soon and tell us! - If you are interested in a driver service to take you to the wineries please let us know and we can help you arrange this. - Off-leash dogs very welcome though please note the camping area is not fully fenced. Our labradoodle Whiskey loves playing with all dogs so will happily show your furry friends around!Set on 350 acres we offer self-contained campers the opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle and take some time out in this beautiful bushland retreat. Mostly flat paddock off the road. Friendly host. Firewood and non potable water provided. Sadly we didn’t explore area much due to extreme heat.

Beyond disappointing.
39 ft travel trailer · With kids
Overall, the camp site was beyond disappointing. Not accurately described. - the camp site is directly next to the road. To be clear, it is a wire fence between the road and the very small camp area. - the site is nothing like the description, other than the photos. - the site is fenced to an area of about 150m x 100m. This is very small. Especially once you take into consideration the amount of thistle weeds peppered throughout the entire area. - there is no creek or river you can access, unless you either drive 2 km back the way you came, or you jump the fence across the road from the camp area into another property. - We could not find the walk. There is no signage, and no information provided by the hosts. - firewood is scattered on the ground with grass growing through and not covered Bad and painful - the entire camp area is covered in bull thistle. This is a green weed covered in spikes. Once you bush past one, you will not forget the weeds, they are very painful. Two of us spent over 1.5 hours clearing about 100 - 150m2 so the kids could play. Things you can't control - there are an insane amount of flies. Crazy amount! - there are so many cicadas, the noise is deafening for about 2-3 hours each day. - being wedged in a valley, a breeze is fairly rare. So if it's hot, bring a lot of shade and water. View - if you're looking at the hill in front of you, it's beautiful. - Everywhere else, fences, road, a mound 2m tall full of thistles, ground full of thistles

Rest and refuel 💚
20 ft travel trailer
We (and the dogs) loved our stay on Mark and Sam’s property. Just shy of two hours outside of Sydney, this secluded little spot just off of Putty road has a gorgeous backdrop of rock formations, farmland, trees, a few Roos and cows. Mark was lovely, he left us a generous supply of firewood and checked in on us after arrival. It rained one day so we headed off to Broke, where we enjoyed some of the beautiful local wineries and distilleries. Great spot and fantastic hosts.

Great site with easy access. Lovely creek across the road, roos passing by at dusk, fire pit and plentiful supply of wood, open flat paddock with a hilly treed backdrop with large sandstone rocks, great bird life made it a lovely experience staying there. Worth the drive.

Simple paddock next to the road but nice and quiet and very flat soft grass, loads of didn't. Heaps of firewood which was awesome. Few cow patties around but heaps of space and really nice to have the whole place to ourselves not sharing with anyone

Nice little secluded spot after passing through the range, great stay. Some hipcamp signage would be handy but google maps takes you to the correct gate
