Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney. Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed. In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure. Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley. This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous. Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day. There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

Nestled in nature's embrace, this campsite offers a peaceful escape with the soothing sound of a nearby river. While the serene setting and amenities like a toilet and cold shower are highlights, be prepared for a challenging drive if you don’t have a 4WD. Many campers appreciate the privacy and seclusion, though the steep descent into the site can be tough for some vehicles. Overall, it’s a beloved spot for families and adventurers seeking a genuine outdoor experience.

A pretty nice, private campsite
Tent · Group trip ·
Overall it was a really nice camping spot, however pretty disappointing toilet situation and also no available information on things to do while there (map of the waterfall hike would have been good). We didn’t see the host once throughout the trip and had no reception anywhere on the property (not a bad thing, just couldn’t pick his brain). The toilet’s septic tank was full when we first arrived - if you put your arm in you would probably be touching the waste (to give some perspective). The smell was horrible because of that and felt super unhygienic. I’m okay with drop toilets, but they should be well maintained. We also weren’t provided toilet paper which is a bit disappointing! For the price of the campsite, this is something that we would have expected. The river is very shallow, don’t expect to swim - we walked 20 minutes down the river and didn’t find any deep pools of water (besides the odd deep patch you can stand in). I asked for directions to the hike and the host said he could draw it out for us once we got there, however he wasn’t home when we arrived. Would be nice just to provide a map for some spots along the river for certain things! ie swimming, fishing or kayaking. The campsite is very protected from the sun, lots of shade, really nice and secluded, not near any other campers which is a major +++. It would also be really nice to have a few signs on the way to the campsite from where your property starts so people don’t get lost :)

Perfect place in nature. We loved it. The river was beautiful and Danny was there all the time to give us a hand. One of the best camping spots I've been in this area. 100% recommended, and Danny is an absolute legend. The only thing I'd flag is don't go there on a 2wd car, unless you are a skilled driver. The last bit of the road is full of holes. People got flat tires and had difficulties to access to the property. I personally drived my 2wd car and I didn't have many issues to go down, but I struggle a lot to get out of there as my car was packed with a lot of weight. Still, I'd repeat the experience 100%, it was an incredible spot. Thanks Danny for having us.

Wallaby Flat was a fantastic site to camp for the weekend. The surroundings and river was amazing. Directions to camp were spot on and much needed (so worth paying attention to them). Will definitely recommend to friends and return!! Thanks Danny.

A proper escape back to nature
Tent · With pets ·
Another fantastic stay at Danny's property. If you want a proper escape and get back to nature, it's hard to beat this beautiful remote campsite. You can't get much better than listening to a flowing creek in bed. Be mindful of the steep descent into the camp, but its worth it once you get there for a private campsite with no one else around!
