Stonepine Ridge is 'remote' - your camp sites are away from any dwellings - but you are still close enough to country towns across borders.
Map to get here ( https://stonepineridge.com.au/map/ )
There is plenty of space for social distancing. Most camp sites are 50 or more metres apart.
The terrain is mostly treed with some cleared, pastured country.
On the border with the Queensland town of Stanthorpe, Stonepine Ridge is close to the historic areas of Willsons Downfall and Amosfield in New South Wales. Home to many rivers that traverse the property from top to bottom, the Boonoo Boonoo and Bookookookarara rivers and Undercliffe and Boonoo Boono Falls are close by and are popular sites to spend a few hours walking/hiking and immersing yourself in the ambient countryside.
The Boonoo Boonoo and Bald rock National Parks are also within this area. The beautiful New England town of Tenterfield is about 20 minutes drive from the falls and offers visitors many shopping and restaurant options. Be sure to stop en route to visit the World War 2 tank traps - (Australia's Maginot Line) and Thunderbolt's hideout. A short drive across the border into Queensland will give you access to the Girraween National Park and a host of wineries, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs.
This camping property is large and you will find no better place that allows for gentle as well as more advanced walking, hiking and mountain biking. The altitude on the property varies from 900m at the top down to 50m to the bottom. The temperature is variable with mostly cool nights, which makes for restful sleep and a nice fire to add to the ambience.
Eagles Point offers a peaceful and scenic camping experience with ample space for activities like mountain biking and hiking to the creek and Eagles Nest. Campers appreciate the property's well-maintained facilities and the friendly host, Liz. The views from the lookout are frequently praised, along with the diverse wildlife and natural beauty. While most reviews are positive, a few mention signage issues with mountain bike tracks.
The camp was very peaceful with lovely walks to the creek and up to Eagles Nest. We didn't know about the waterfall so on the next visit we will walk there. We will also bring our mountain bikes as there is an interesting track to follow. The dogs loved the freedom and the kids loved the space and swimming.
We had an amazing weekend camping at Eagles Point! The property is beautiful, well maintained and and Liz was very friendly and accommodating. Its definitely worth exploring the creek as its beautiful. Loved all the wildlife on the property and the view from the lookout is amazing.
We highly recommend this camp site for a relaxing weekend!
Stonepine Ridge was an awesome little get away spot for the weekend. We had the pleasure of staying at site 3 in Rory’s Lookout. The other sites were a little close but far enough away that you had decent privacy. Definitely be prepared for rain and lots of condensation as the site is quite high up and sits in clouds in the morning. Also bring a jumper as it got quite cool at night and of a morning despite being Summer! The bush toilet was very clean and well maintained. Site 3 is on a bit of a slope but was otherwise very cosy and we throughly enjoyed our stay!
