Our fenced fields with sheds boarders 9100 acres Sugar Hill State Forest, hiking trails and a dirt seasonal road that connects to other dirt roads. Tempest Ranch
We (a family with 2 kids) had a great time at Tempest Ranch. Dwayne is an amiable host, helped us with setting up a campfire, and provided good tips on nearby places to visit. It is a nice place to relax with a beautiful view and a creek flowing through the farm with a swimming hole. Our kids enjoyed playing in the creek at the campsite, watching the horses and donkeys, feeding the fish, and canoeing in the pond.

Fantastic camping experience!
Dwayne's property is a fantastic place to unwind and relax in nature, or to enjoy exploring the more "human" nearby activities. There are many hiking trails in the state forest that borders the property. There are many waterfalls -- I recommend Eagle Cliff Falls with your pup. The swimming hole on the property is incredibly refreshing. The wildflower meadows are beautiful. Daisy, my pup, had a blast getting out her zoomies in the mowed meadow. Guess who didn't want to leave???

Great Stay at Sleepy Pines site
We had perfect weather and Dwayne was a very welcoming host. He had the campfire all set and even lit it for us as we setup (as we arrived at dusk). We enjoyed a another campfire that I made on the 2nd night with the additional bundle of wood available. The pine grove was a perfect place to nestle our teardrop camper. It offered nearly continuous shade during the day. The sites are far enough away that you would feel privacy from others - moreso than at a state park campground. Fortunately for us, we had the place to ourselves! The area has very spotty wireless reception for Verizon users - with no service at the campsites. We enjoyed the isolation that that provided. Watkins Glen is a short 20 minute drive away. We unintentionally went to Watkins Glen State Park (not knowing that they don't allow dogs on the Gorge Trail). We hiked the south rim trail one day with our 2 dogs, then came back a second day and hiked the Gorge trail by ourselves. We enjoyed some great food and ice cream in Watkins Glen. Complete with a view of Seneca Lake during one lunch. We look forward to bringing family and friends back to share this "private campground" with them. I would recommend Tempest Ranch to anyone that is curious about camping in the area. It offered us a very peaceful stay a little farther away from the density of a state campground. Plus, we booked with very short notice (plans had changed the day-before) so we booked our campsite the morning of our trip.

Dwayne and Duke
Dwayne was a great host and helped to start our fire both nights. He was very responsive with all questions and made sure we were comfortable. He introduced us to all of his animals including Duke his best pal. We had a great time watching him feed his fish and the donkeys. He is very passionate about making your camping experience fun and inviting on his beautiful farm. Highly recommend!
