A lovely, 3 acre plot of secluded land surrounded by cute ponds and decorated with sculptures. A small campfire spot, wood stove in the trailer and a composting toilet. Want to unplug and get away from the busy life? Most mobile phones do not work here! We have only minimal solar electricity, and there is a propane stove as well! Two double beds, one single, and a couple of nice cots. Tent Sites abound! We bought this property about four years ago. It was trashed by the previous owner and had an old dilapidated trailer in the middle of it. We cleaned and cleaned, then we ripped out the bad parts of the trailer and rebuilt the insides, placed a huge metal roof over the whole thing and put in a composting outhouse. There's no running water, and phones don't get reception, so you can truly unplug and decompress in this lovely, quiet piece of land which is close to a ton of hiking / forest land and just down the road from Cummings Nature Center, a great place for family exploration and learning.A lovely, 3 acre plot of secluded land surrounded by cute ponds and decorated with sculptures. What to expect
Onsite RV/trailer
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
5 guests max
Campfires allowed
Firewood provided, firepit, wood burning fireplace. There is newspaper in a box on the porch if you need it to start a fire. If you’ve ordered a wood bundle from us, feel free to take one of the $5 bundles on the porch. We have more bundles on the porch which you may purchase by putting the money in the designated can on the kitchen counter. Also there are plenty of people in the neighborhood selling bundles. Please keep the fire to a reasonably small height. There is a tree above the pit which we wish to keep alive and well. Please no plastic or cigarette butts in the fire.
Toilet available
Composting toilet. The composting toilet is behind the trailer off to the right hand side. The door is latched so you have to reach in the side window to unlatch it, please re-latch it whenever you check out. There is toilet paper and sanitizer in there and instructions on how to use it. It is a simple composting toilet. Once your deed is done simply sprinkle a generous amount of the provided wood dust upon it and close the lid to keep animals out.
Pets allowed
Off leash, on leash. It’s awesome if you’d like to bring your pets to enjoy the great outdoors with you. We ask that you please clean up their poop if they go and make sure their paws are clean before they enter the trailer and that they are not permitted up on the furniture. We have a number of guests who have allergies and must respect them… also it’s hard to keep the furniture clean if animals are hopping up on it. We also ask that the animals do not dig or destroy things.
Potable water available
Bottled water or jugs
Showers available
Cold water only. We have an outdoor foot pump shower. it is very rustic and not heated. Also about 10 minutes drive from our camp is Honeoye Lake, where there's a lovely beach with lifeguards and simple showers.
Cooking equipment present
Grill over firepit, oven, stovetop or hot plate, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. Our cooking facilities are very simple. Firstly, there is no running water, so please be aware of that. We have some soap and sponges and a rudimentary sink on the front porch. There are instructions on how to use the stove on a sheet above it. Please be sure to keep the propane off when not in use so the pilot doesn’t outgas into the space. There are some hand towels around, feel free to use them. In addition to the kitchen stove, we have a hibachi grill outside. Please bring your own charcoal if you plan on using it. For washing up after cooking, there is a very rudimentary sink on the front porch. It drains into a bucket. Inside the trailer is a small bin which is clean if you wish to make soapy water in something, you can bring that to the sink outside. There are towels in the kitchen which you may use to dry your dishes.
Picnic table present
Pack it out

What a fun place! Great vibes. Amazing stars. I especially loved swinging in the hammock and watching the birds. Thanks for the great trip! It was a necessary disconnect and a rad place to experience the solar eclipse.

Out of the grid paradise
With kids
We had such an incredible time at Whenland. This is a magical place with a unique style. This is an authentic out of the grid paradise created with an artful zero waste approach and design. We can feel that this a a labor of love and a philosophie of care and respect to the land and it's creatures.

This property is magical. We had such a unique and fun time staying on Seth’s land. We explored the land and had such a fun time. We enjoyed the fire and then slept very comfortably inside. If you are looking for something different and special, this is the place to go. Absolutely loved it!!

Nature Meets Maximalism
I have absolutely fallen in love with the quirky and bizarre, yet homey Whenland. Seth's land and trailer are like renting a camp-able art gallery for your stay, where you find something different to gawk at everywhere you look. Even though I did not have the pleasure of meeting the man behind the madness, he was an attentive and wonderful host! For a place with trash literally everywhere...by design, mind you...I noticed that everything was immaculately clean. The first night of my stay, there was a surprise snowstorm and the little wood stove took the trailer from 40 degrees to 70 in no time at all, ending with it being one the coziest nights I've ever had. Warmer weather melted the snow the next day and made it possible for me to spend the afternoon outside by the campfire and exploring the land. Lots of opportunity for nature watching here! Saw an eagle fight a hawk, some deer chilling by my car (only a very short walk from the site) and a sleepy springtime snake. Seriously, if you've been considering this unique stay like I had been for a few year and just haven't bit the bullet, do it. You won't be disappointed! I'll be back, and I'm bringing my son next time!

With pets
We had a great time! However, it wasn't as remote and secluded as we thought it would be, we could see and hear neighbors, and it wasn't as nice as we were thinking for the price. We knew there would be a lot of stuff on the property based on the description and photos, but there are a lot of unsafe aspects to the property. Definitely would not bring kids here. Our first night I was cut on the leg by a metal wire by the fire pit. There's a fine line between using what was on the property and knowing when something is trash and should be taken away. The porch is seemingly falling apart. We didn't sleep in the trailer, opted for our tents. It was really nice and convenient to have the kitchen. The post says there is electricity, but be warned there are no outlets - you can only use cords with USBs.
