Voted 2nd in NC!! We are a Mangalitsa farm in The Smoky Mountains of western NC. The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views, a half mile of river and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote! Come swim, fish, cook and play! Check out www.smokymtnriverranch.com for more information. PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout. Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. Please review the Extras options as we offer river lifts, firewood and dog stays; thank you! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. Please contact Catherine directly so you can be checked in safely and accommodate your schedule. NO CHECK-INS AFTER DARK. We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Asheville is 20 miles to our East.

Bamboo Deck Riverside
Stunning Views and Exceptional Fish
My son and I had an amazing stay at Bamboo Deck Riverside. The property is absolutely wonderful. The hosts encourage guests to explore its expansive grounds, which are fenced, ensuring you don't stray onto someone else's land. Despite this, the remoteness sometimes makes it feel like you're in uncharted territory, adding to the charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and highly recommend joining the pig and miniature donkey tour early during your stay. Catherine provided fascinating insights about the property and its animals, which improved the experience of the beautiful views and various locations on the grounds. We even brought home ground sausage, which we used in a spaghetti sauce that my son described as "glorious"! Coming from a 12-year-old boy in middle school, that's quite a compliment, and he's now urging us to find a way to order more. The River Deck area is very secluded, giving you a sense of complete privacy on the property. Accessing the Pigeon River from this spot can be challenging due to the elevated terrain; you'll need to walk about 75 yards to find an easier entry point. However, this didn't deter us from enjoying excellent fishing. We caught multiple smallmouth bass, and my son had success with several rainbow trout. If you haven't fished for either before, I recommend doing a quick Google search for the best tackle to use. I was also successful with my fly rod. The river is fairly easy to navigate with water shoes.

Camping on the River
I absolutely loved staying at Catherine and Rick’s beautiful farm. Easily one of the nicest campsites I have ever been to. My stay at site 3 was nothing short of amazing. I was treated to the sound of the river and the stillness of this peaceful property. I will definitely be returning.

Site 1 Rocks
Childlike Wonder
A little slice of heaven. We were so very pleased with our stay on their beautiful land. The animals, the river, the rolling hills. Absolutely peaceful and serene. We stayed at site 1 and were delighted with this choice. The Game of Thrones fire pit and gas grill were lovely additions. The ground under our feet was laden with clover, making a fantastic “grounding” opportunity. But our biggest excitement came from setting up a blanket on a rolling hill at dusk to watch the world transform from day time into night time. Timing as it was, we were there at the perfect time to dance among hundreds of thousands of fireflies while the stars winked and blinked from on high. It was indeed the great escape we needed to fill our cups. We had no clue it would return us to our childhood and the magic of wonder. To boot, Catherine is such a bright soul. Very sweet and kind. We were not able to meet Rick except from afar while watching him operate machinery. We got to witness hay bails created in the field. Another chef’s kiss to the entire experience. We will be back!!! 100%

Beautiful property!!
This is a beautiful piece of property!! We chose to stay an extra day and Catherine and Rick were able to accommodate us! We set up camp just on the edge of the river and enjoyed peaceful nights. Although we were just across the road from the pig pens there was no smell at all! Their pups were friendly and didn’t bother us. We would definitely be back! Thank you!

Site 6 Creekside
Beautiful campsite and the hosts were amazing. We stayed the weekend and spent one night off the river and another off the creek and you can’t go wrong with either. Definitely will be returning.
