Bernie and Sondra moved to Boone from the hot flatlands of the Eastern NC in 1973. They fell in love with the beauty of the mountains, the temperate weather, the friendly people and the charm of what was then a small University town. Quickly, they decided they'd never leave and purchased this property soon after. They built the house and ponds over the next few years and have loved sharing the natural serenity of their homeplace with friends, family and neighbors ever since. Learn more about this land: Enjoy a peaceful getaway on our 10-acre property situated in a quiet rural neighborhood. Our home and land are beautifully nestled at the base of two mountains and surrounded by gracefully swaying tall trees. Pitch your tents by one of our two ponds stocked with bass and brim. Guests are welcome to fish! (Please bring your own rods and bait) Designated fire rings, a picnic table, a tree swing, and canoes are available for use. A small trickling stream flows through the woods which is fun for children to explore. Toilet, shower, and potable water are within short walking distance inside the Twin Oaks shop building. Our Twin Oaks property is conveniently located within 10 minutes by car to prime spots for hiking, biking, tubing/kayaking. Other adventures including shopping, dining, local breweries, and live music can be found in nearby Boone or Blowing Rock. - 3 miles to Elk Knob State Park - 5 miles to Todd and the New River for tubing and canoeing. - 7 miles to Boone - 15 miles to Blowing Rock

I love the time I spent at this beautiful and peaceful place. Sondra and Bernie were very welcoming and kind to me and my husband. Had a bathroom area for us that was clean and nice. Loved the pond. Would definitely recommend staying.

Sondra and Bernie’s land was perfect! I would highly recommend choosing this site. We went for a float trip nearby and it was only a short drive to set up the campsite. We loved fishing on the pond.

Really enjoyed our stay. Bernie and Sondra were incredibly kind and accommodating. We were able to buy firewood from them at a good price and the use of the bathroom/shower up in Bernie's shop made it feel like glamping! The campsite and property are well maintained. We also loved going for a slow easy row on the little lake.
