Grins & Pickin's CampFarm was created to share the outdoors with others. Growing food & flowers, camping & hiking is what we like to do. And we like sharing these activities with others. Our family oriented outdoor recreation facility is open on weekends only and offers primitive camping, PYO produce during the growing season, homesteading activities & nature-based programs. The peaceful 20-acre country farm has food gardens, a frog habitat pool, a barnyard for the chickens & ducks, a bluegill fishin' pond, a pollinator maze, a prairie garden, and an outdoor stage. After crossing a winding creek into 10 acres of woods, you may see deer, turkey, fox, coyote, mink, eagles & barred owls. In early spring, the peepers are peeping, wildflowers are abundant & the vernal pools welcome the wood frogs, salamanders and fairy shrimp. Summer brings on the bullfrogs, butterflies, dragonflies and fireflys. Fall is a great time to pull grapevine to make wreaths & to build stick forts in the woods. We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper. We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river). Great place

Great get away. Quit place to relax and very clean. Sarah the owner is awesome. Clean place. I had to get eggs I had duck eggs loved them. You have to go and see this place. This is a place I will go back and I'm a 1hr and 30min away.

A Host That Builds Relationships

Normally we look for locations with 5 or fewer campsites. This gives us the privacy we like. Grins & Pickins has several sites yet we still felt as if our site was secluded and our neighbors went unnoticed. We also enjoyed the way Christy was actively engaging her campers. She stopped by to make sure we were ready for the night, and lead a nice hiking trip on Sunday. She also knows the value of an stress-free packing out day. While most have “flexible” checkout times from 11:00 AM or noon, Christy’s site posts checkout is by 6:00 PM. So you can enjoy the day with family or friends, pack at your leisure, and make sure you’re site looks better than before you arrived.

RV boondocking #3

Love love love this little campground/farm. What an amazing simple place to stay. We stayed in an RV spot and arrived late at night, great communication with the host and facilities were as described. Our kids loved feeding the chickens and we got some duck eggs which where wonderful. Only stayed one night but would gladly stay again. Thanks for making this a special place!

The site was clean, peaceful, lots of nature, beautiful hiking trails, Christy was a joy very friendly and accommodating, and on top of all that even the portable toilets were clean and up to date. Loved our stay and WILL be returning.

Arriving on a bicycle

This trip was my families first camp out trip. The area was very spacious and had many things to do. Christy, the owner, was very considerate and kind with all the instructions and explanations of the camp and what we could possibly do. There were no lights around which we had great night sky views. We would definitely come back and see what more we can explore again!

Arriving with a pop-up camper

Nature kid approved!

My kid and I took my new to me camper out for its first trip. Christy’s place was perfect! She helped us find the perfect campsites so I could pull through, and was a gracious and warm host. My daughter loved trying to catch tadpoles and frogs in the frog pond, feeding the ducks watermelon and wandering through the pollinator maze. We spent a good bit of time in the creek looking for crawdads. The firefly show in the woods was incredible and the thing my daughter is talking about most. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks Christy!
