The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows, horses and chickens. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner.

Shaded Oasis
Picturesque primitive campsites that should stay somewhat cooler over the summer under that dreamy canopy of trees. Made some cozy fires and had a peaceful few nights in nature. Definitely will be back.

Finding peace
So much to share about this real experience. There is pure peace that seems to come from being in a natural environment. This natural environment is not only thriving with life that is healing, it is filled with love and good intention for all humans. We absolutely found joy next to the large lake. Our children spent much of the time playing on the doc and swimming. We all enjoyed cooling off in the water and paddling around the lake in the boat. Site 3 was a great pick for this Father’s Day adventure. Although there wasn’t much shade at this spot, we were able to make some shade with a tarp, where the provided picnic table fit perfectly. We were a quick walk to a bathroom, shower and water. The provided rocks around the fire pit made for great seats during story telling and great tables during cooking. After doing the must do Ranger talk we learned so much more about the beautiful intentions for this land. We also learned some history. I was amazed to hear the elderberry plant outside the barn (built with wood from the property) was an original plant from the time Richard took over the property. We could spend all day learning about the history and the bountiful organic crops being cared for. I am so grateful to Richard for sharing this lovely land and sharing his time to educate us on all the work he is doing around the farm. I pray God continues to bless Richard and the work he is doing. Our family is looking forward to our next visit.

Great Weekend Away
We loved tent camping here! It was a great spot for our young family. My boys had lots of fun exploring along the nearby trail and searching for frogs around the lake. It was an easy drive from Columbus and was a lovely weekend escape without requiring a lot of time in the car. We will definitely camp here again!

We had the best time at Richard’s! Each time we return we are reminded of Flying J’s farm beauty and peace. Keep coming back.
