We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. Our children have grown up out here learning a deep respect for nature and the real (non digital) world. Now empty nesters, we live on site. Part of our retirement planning is to spend next several years developing the lower portion of the property (approx. 15 acres) into a campground and retreat for our guests, as well as our own family, friends, and grandchildren. The campground area (currently) consists of a handful of primitive campsites, and a group area. We are working steadily on improvements, including adding more sites, improving the roadways, and upgrading the common areas. In all we will likely have 12-15 total designated camping areas (including a group area or two, as well as a couple hike to secluded locations). For much more details regarding our philosophy, history, and future plans please visit our website at www.zen-acres.com. There is also a lot of additional information listed on the individual campsite descriptions.

Such a great location, feels like you are isolated in the woods yet still so close to home. This spot will be on our annual camping trips!

It was a good time. Had some privacy and wasn't cramped. Had wood near by to purchase. There was no trash cans which would have been better, but we all had fun.

Wonderful experience!
We loved it here. The creek is amazing and I loved our site! We had plenty of privacy and space. It felt like the perfect mix of actual out there camping and easier/close in park car camping. The woods are lush and gorgeous. No cell service at the site but 10 minutes from a store if you need it. Mike was super responsive when I had questions. We felt really at home here. Thank you! We’ll be back.

Not Zen
Reading the description and the name “zen gardens” “peaceful” as well as the pamphlet given at the kiosk stating the rules. It seemed like such a great sight. I love how mike has created a campsite with self made trail next to a creek. It would have been really enjoyable if it really was that way. it was not quiet and was not zen for us. The bathroom doors are spring loaded and all but 1 camper and ourselves would close the door respectfully and quiet. Every other single person would slam them so loudly and our sight was in front of one. No one was respectful of time and noise. The group to our left was so loud. Yelling at their dogs loudly. The kids going into our sight walking in between our tent. The dog fights of all off leashes dogs attacking smaller dogs. Two dogs urinated on our tent and left bones in the site. Barking loudly all through the night. The site in front of us and to our left kept the loud noise up until past midnight the first night. I asked both sights last night to keep the volume down only the site to our left quieted about 10:30-11 the one in front did not. The site to our right left the radio on all day and all night with their dogs in our space and urinating on our tents. We are exhausted and low on sleep. It was a party place with zero respect for others from a lot of the campers there. Very sad that the description and name and rules are not what it should be. We will try again next year and hope that it’s better. Good luck mike thanks for the stay

Campsite #2 was one of the best campsites I’ve ever had. It actually had different “rooms.” A lot of improvements happening at this camp ground which is good to see. You can tell the host, Mike, loves the land and continually wants to make the place better. Was there 10 days and couldn’t have been happier.
