Let your children and dogs roam free without a leash. This property is remote and private. There are no neighbors nearby. This location is; twenty minutes north of I-76 Turnpike Willow Hill Exit forty-five minutes from Raystown Lake one hour and thirty minutes north of Gettysburg one hour and thirty minutes south of PSU three hours east of Pittsburgh three hours west of Philadelphia five hours west of NYC There is some cell service, but it is limited. Can you hear me now? Be sure to save site information on your phone before you leave, in case you lose cell-service. This is not Alaska, but it is not a KOA campground, either. We recommend you print of bring a paper map. Your GPS will not bring you to the exact driveway location. You need to be personally observant. This is the top of a mountain ridge. The access lane is steep, rocky, and has water erosion ditches you must drive over. Do not attempt this if you have a low profile car or a new/fragile camper. 4WD/AWD is highly recommended. Low profile and fancy cars are not recommended. This is not Alaska, but it is not a paved KOA campground, either. This camping site is for those who want to live ruggedly like Lewis & Clark, or Teddy Roosevelt. It is NOT for those who like their campground to be like The Villages of Florida where everything is flat, paved over, and you drive golf carts. This location is in a mix of farmland and mountain Appalachia. You will see common species such as chipmunks, squirrels turkey and deer. Many bird species. There are also porcupines, skunks, and black snakes around. You may also see black bear - it is rare, but possible. You are visiting wildlife species in their natural habitat. Please be self-aware of your own level comfort with wildlife. Once again, this is not an RVs park where you will socialize with a hundred other campers. This is primitive and isolated. This is an ideal camping spot if you want to escape from people. Nearby is the Tuscarora Creek which is excellent for trout fishing. The Tuscarora has a small but lovely window for kayaking from mid-March through the end of May. Please contact the host if you would like help to plan some paddle logistics. Twenty minutes south is Big Spring State Park which has an abandoned RR tunnel form the late 1800s. Forty-five minutes away is the 1,000 steps near Mt. Union which is part of the Standing Stone Trail that runs from Cowan’s Gap State Park to PSU. The Steps provides and amazing view of the Juniata River, and is a strenuous heart work-out. If you are interested in historic trains, East Broad Top Railroad is in Mt. Union. If members of your party would like a more pampered camping experience that includes real beds and hot showers, there is an adjoining property for rent on air b and b. Google search for The Crowe's Lounge. When my father died in 2020 I removed this shed before we sold my childhood home. It measures 8' x 10' and you may sleep in it on a bad weather night (or a good weather night). Currently, it is three sided with the front open that you may use as you please. It has two 50amp outlets, one 30amp outlet, and normal 110 house outlets to. Free campfire wood; you may use anything on the ground. Also included: picnic table with six plastic chairs are included, propane grill is provided at no extra charge, plastic containers filled with drinkable well water - although there may be some forest dirt particles. A porta-potti is on-site, too. This is the top of a mountain ridge. The access lane is steep, rocky and has water erosion ditches you must drive over. Do not attempt this if you have a low profile car or a fragile camper. This is not Alaska, but it is not a paved KOA campground, either. This camping site is for those who want to live ruggedly like Lewis and Clark, or Teddy Roosevelt. It is NOT for those who like their campground to be like The Villages of Florida where everything is flat and you drive golf carts. AWD or 4WD is highly recommended. For your own benefit, please arrive in the day time with sunlight. If you want to escape from humanity, this sixty acre ridge top is secluded and private. Let your dogs and children run free. You will not have to talk to anyone. You will not even have to deal with the property owner. There is a clear night sky east and south for astronomy. You may walk and explore freely as long as you do not cross the well-painted white property lines. Twenty acres is tall forest, thirty acres is newly logged regrowth brush, and ten acres is crop field. You are welcome to bring horses, but please keep them out of the crop-field.

Secluded and Peaceful
We loved camping at Wilbur’s Shed. Very secluded, only heard a couple of cars, and only saw the owner very briefly who dropped off some goodies. Beautiful views. As stated in the description, the driveway is a little difficult to get up, but if you go slow and steady, you will be fine (assuming you do not have a low profile car). Having electric was awesome. We only have a 25ft power cord and are going to order an extension so we can position the rv to be able to wake up to the beautiful ridge in the morning. Will definitely be staying here again!

Nice area, well maintained campsite, and very remote. Had a great time with some friends. Watch out for ticks!

Was an amazing stay, host left us plenty of materials, did more then most hosts would. Was an extremely beautiful view and perfect for cooking and hammocking, yard games were super fun. Drive up isn’t the easiest but it certainly super worth it. Look for the Wilbur sign it’s what helped me find it. Definitely need 4wd or at least a bigger car to get up the driveway but it’s 100% worth the stay for the cheap price. Amazing job to the host for thinking of anything we might need, that people do sometimes forget. Overall was a 5/5

Wilbur's Shed
Not an RV or FWD friendly spot
First of all this is a very hard to reach spot. A standard sedan or hatchback like a camry or honda fit will not do it. You need a 4x4 with significant clearance to do this safely, which it does not say on the page until you reserve the site, which I feel is misleading. Personally I had to park a little shy of halfway up the hill because my sedan couldn't make it so I was very much in view of the road, but it is a very quiet road. 2 cars passed all night. Do not come here at night for the first time. If you can make it up the hill, it is absolutely gorgeous. It is quite private outside of the owners nearby home and the view is amazing. Just be aware before you reserve this is not an RV site.

Beautiful peace and quiet!
We had a wonderful time at Wilber’s Shed! The Fall colors were amazing, highly recommend staying during the Autumn months. Our pups had fun exploring and running around. Wesley was a great host and very welcoming. We even got to check out his nearby Airbnb, The Crowes Lounges, which is also a great option for someone looking to get away. We will definitely be back!
