Site 2 - Bear Den Hang and Stay
A great family camp spot!
We really enjoyed our time at Tammy's tent sites! The amenities really can't be beat -- the showers and toilets were cleaner than mine at home, lol, and the addition of a washer/dryer, ice machine, coffeemaker, and dishwashing station makes it better resourced than pretty much any location we have camped at. There is also a lovely picnic area and a trail along the back of the property, and communal use hammocks and propane fire bowls (it was too dry for fire pits when we were there) that were lovely. The platform tents look AWESOME and we were definitely jealously eyeing that mattress -- so I'd consider opting up! To know before you go: The actual tent sites, while well-dispersed and screened by trees and grass, are pretty small (e.g. ours was large enough for our two-person tent, but not a table or chairs to cook at.) Luckily there is a communal cooking shelter and grills, but if you don't want to interact with anyone else while camping this is not the place for you. On the other hand, the atmosphere of being "part of the family" was very nice (e.g. we were introduced to every other camper by name, and helped one another out with finding places to visit, car trouble, etc.) It's also, you know, a farm, and there's two drafthorses so sometimes during the day it smells like a farm when the wind's in the wrong direction. But it was never very intense or for more than a few minutes. Also, visit Custer and the Black Hills while you're there! Great day trips.

Big Bear Cabin
We had a tremendous time at Tammy’s cabin. The amenities were spectacular and the cabin itself worked great for our family of four. Tammy and Tim take immaculate care of the property. We can’t recommend it highly enough and will be staying there again if we make it back to the area.

Site 1 - Bear Den Hang and Stay
Quit your searching and stay here!!
Aside from the campsite itself being spectacular, the hosts, Tammy and Tim, are wonderful, wonderful people! It would be a treat for any camper coming through to stay at this site, as well as get the chance to meet them! The campsite was beautifully maintained with full bathrooms, shower stalls, extra fridge storage/ ice, laundry, grills, and fire places. Tammy and Tim checked in in the evenings to see how our day went and spent time getting to know us on a more personal level. Truly could not recommend this place more!

Perfect
I stayed at Bear Den for two nights as a group of four. Tammy was incredibly welcoming and kind. We were blown away by the amenities and how comfortable we felt. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate, the cooking area was great and super easy to use, and there was even washer and dryer access (wow!). The location was also perfect for visiting Custer State Park and the Black Hills. This campground is a must for anyone wanting to stay in Hermosa, SD! I hope to return in the future!
