The resort is located off Highway 385, the main thoroughfare through the Black Hills National Forest, yet is peacefully nestled in a quiet valley, completely surrounded by national forestland with a tranquil year-round creek meandering throughout the property. Rock outcroppings, hiking trails and offroad trails are within footsteps of every cabin. The serene space is an outdoor sanctuary centrally-located within 20 miles of Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Eye Tunnel / Highway, and Black Elk Peak. Your adventure will also take you near Hill City, Keystone, Custer, and Historic Deadwood. Drive a little further, and end up in Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Sturgis, or Devils Tower National Monument.

SD Hidden Gem

As first time campers, we loved this campground. Garret was extremely helpful and flexible with our travel plans. The site had incredible forest and rocky hillside views, not to mention the flowing creek running through it. It has everything you’ll need, and I’d recommend to everyone!

Open Creekside Camping

Pass if you’re tent camping

Not a good place for a tent camper. Definitely overpriced for tent camping. Overrun with RV’s and Gen X’ers and Boomers literally blasting the Macarena and bad mid 90’s Nu-Rock with their screaming kids and dogs everywhere. Showers were nice though.

Creekside RV sites

What a lovely place! The meadows and surrounding forests are scathingly beautiful. Great host (Garrett) and Camp Valet (Bill and sweet wife Chris and their Sadie dog). Everyone welcoming except for a red-winged blackbird that seemed intent upon strafing me whenever I came into view. Thank you so much! VL

Creek Side RV Site

Beautiful place

We enjoyed our 2-night stay in Garret’s land. The view across our campsite were cascading pine trees. Quaking aspens blew in the wind next to our camper van. The public bathroom was clean. Garret provided information about the site in advance. You have quick access to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and not too long of a trip to Custer State Park. We will definitely consider staying here again when we come back.

Creek Side RVs Site

Camping creekside.

We enjoyed a week long stay at Horse Creek. The views were breathtaking. The lots were large enough that everyone had room to spread out. We enjoyed lunch at the Cafe one day as well. The public showers were rustic, however and due for a renovation. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.
