Great overnight stop for us, just a few minutes off the highway. You need to be comfortable with a mile or so of narrow hilly gravel road. We have a 26ft trailer with truck and wasn't an issue, but just a heads up. Quiet, wooded, shaded spot. Kiddo brought us some fresh eggs which was awesome.

So secluded and quiet! We slept so soundly. Water and electricity and sewer are right at every pad. Sam and his family also really helped us out in a pinch when our electrical cable bounced out along the road. There is a shortcut on Argyle, a dirt road, that gets you into Hot Springs without going so far around.

Great location
It was a great experience for my first Hipcamp trip. you are near the hosts home, but it felt very private and hidden away. Away from the crowds but still in the trees of the black hills.
I would definitely return

Nice Private Hilltop Camping
Very nicely prepared sites and very private.
At first glance the road is a bit intimidating but grows on you, no problem
Host was great and even gave us some fresh eggs

Refuge Hill is peaceful
Refuge Hill was a home run for us. We were tucked away alone in the woods with complete privacy. We had all the hookups we needed. (Keep in my you have to fill your water tank from theirs so have a long hose.) site was flat and easily accessible with out travel trailer. Meredith and Sam were super responsive and lovely. They also hooked us up with beautiful, fresh eggs. The road in was tricky but no issue in a truck.
