RV05) RV lot #5 Black House Mt Park
The nicest "Ghost Town" Campsite
We recent spent three nights at Blackhouse Mountain, and literally had the place all to ourselves … which was kind of eery at times. The reason for the absence of other campers and ATV enthusiasts was a very bad straight line wind storm that took place over Memorial Day Weekend, which knocked down a lot of trees and closed a LOT of hiking and ATV trails in the area. To be fair, the BHM staff proactively reached out to us roughy a week before our stay was scheduled to begin to warn us about the ATV trail closings, and since our plans didn’t include ATV riding - just camping - we elected to continue with our planned stay. Apparently, EVERYONE ELSE opted out, which is a shame. It might have been a blessing, as the ATVs that were in the area were noisy. The campground was itself was quite nice. All 3 of the “full” hookups were well located, with clean power, adequate water pressure, and septic tank access. The pads were level, wide, with fresh gravel and clean of excessive weeds. Each site had a campfire ring and elevated camp grill. We stayed in site RV05, and HAD there been other campers there, it would have been fairly private. We’re T-Mobile customers, and there was little if any signal available onsite. Thankfully, the WiFi coverage was good. It’s just unusual for us to arrive at an empty campsite, set up and stay for 3 nights and never meet a host. We never felt unsafe as the entire campsite is blanketed with cameras, so we knew they were “looking out for us”.
