Roamstead was born on a family RV trip across the country. Our founders noticed their glamorous plans often ended in glorified parking lots or dirty campgrounds without amenities or thought regarding design. Alongside that, many campgrounds seemed unapproachable to those who hadn’t been before. A vision was born to reinvent 'roughing it' in a way that could welcome all adventurers to experience the magic of the great outdoors. We believe the beauty of nature should be experienced by everyone. It's good for your health, and the more we connect with and learn about the outdoors, the more we'll feel compelled to protect it. Whether you've been camping all your life or this would be your first trip, we're here for you. We aim to build a bridge (you know, a metaphorical one) to the great outdoors, where all adventures can truly feel welcome. Roamstead is committed to making our outdoor spaces accessible to everyone. At our Smoky Mountains location, we're partnering with Friends of the Smokies to do just that. Friends assists the National Park Service in its mission to preserve and protect the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by raising funds and public awareness, and providing volunteers for needed projects. They restore trails, build handicap accessible access points, and provide urban youth educational opportunities in the park, to name just a few of their many projects. A dollar of each stay at Roamstead Smoky Mountains is donated back to Friends of the Smokies to help continue their mission.

Roamstead for the win!
I had such an enjoyable and peaceful stay at Roamstead. I brought my small travel camper, and there were campers and RVs of all shapes and sizes. Also a very calm atmosphere for those traveling with pets (I brought my dog). Great amenities, perfect distance from attractions and hikes, clean, and quiet. The lodge and pool and very nice and I was impressed by all they had to offer! I will certainly be back.

Best spot we have ever stayed at!
We absolutely LOVED our stay! We were greeted with fresh backed cookies. A free bandana for our dog and a smile! Our campsite was right on a babbling brook and we were rocked to sleep by its sound every night. They also had a pool! So I was able to relax with a beer after a long morning hike and get a little sun! They have free coffee and granola in the morning as well. Definitely going to make it one of our go to spots on our summer camping adventure trip!

Great Experience
We had the best time during our stay at Roamstead! The location of the campground was great, our site was well maintained (had an electrical issue when we arrived that was addressed immediately) and the accommodations were wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly and the common spaces were clean and well maintained. We can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Romastead. The facilities were great, the camp was clean, service was awesome, and just a very relaxed and welcoming feeling. Having the trail at the back of the property was also great, made it a perfect spot to go with dogs. Would definitely recommend

Glamping near stream!!
It was our first experience and we look forward to do it again... My kid had a great time roaming around the stream. The place is secured and safe. Friendly staffs and clean ambience around. Highly recommended.

Great, will be back!
Loved this yurt! It was very clean, and the AC made staying on a very cold weekend comfortable and cozy. While the yurts are close together, there were not many people staying at the property due to it being off season. However, I imagine it can get really loud when the campsites are full. Being close to the helped drown out noise though, and they also provided earplugs. The bathhouse was clean and had good toiletries available, and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. They also made some tasty pizza!
