Sugarloafers is located on a portion of the old Ocoee Outdoors Zipline. It is nestled along the lower Ocoee river with great views of Sugarloaf and Big Frog Mountains. This is an excellent gateway to Parksville Lake and the Cherokee National Forest and all the activities it affords including whitewater rafting on the Hiwasee and Ocoee Rivers, mountain biking, kiking, lazy river tubing/floating, fishing, and so much more! Our property is one of nine - 5 acre tracts along the river. As of Fall of 2024, the adjacent lots have houses on them. So while this campsite is some distance from the houses, it is currently within view. Although the campsite is back from the highway, road noise can be an issue especially on the weekends. Highway 64 is one of three major roads in the county. Unfortunatley, tents don't block the sounds of Harleys racing down the road at 2 a.m. Consider bringing earplugs or muffs if you are a light sleeper! Within a mile from the end of the driveway there is: Food - Myrtles Cafe, a Subway Sandwich Shop and the Gondoler restaraunt. Whitewater Outfitters - Ocoee Outdoors, NOC Ocoee Outpost, ACE Ocoee Adventures Other - Rock Creek Oufitters Ocoee Store, Ocoee Express Gas Station and Convenience Store, Sugarloaf River Park and Parksville Dam and the entrance to the Cherokee National Forest! Dollar General & Foodcity - 4.2 miles back towards Cleveland (because someone forgot their phone charging cable and you want a 6 pack of beer). Middle Ocoee Private boater takeout is only a 10 minute drive! !!!ALSO!!! Due to the massive damage caused by hurricane Helene on September 27, 2024 - especially to I-40 through the mountains - Highway 64 is now one of the primary routes into NC from TN. Expect traffic along this route to be busier than normal.Pitch your tent along the lower Ocoee river and set your hammock up in adjacent pine trees. Enjoy watching the river flow from the top of the boulder or sit at the picnic table to enjoy a cool beverage. Build a fire in the fire ring and enjoy your stay after a day of recreation! All in a nicely shaded area. Just a 10 minute drive from the Middle Ocoee River take out and 5 minute drive to the Parksville Lake boat ramps.  The Ocoee Express gas station is 1/2 mile down the road and has a Subway and an excellent selection of adult beverages.  Grab a bite to eat just down the road at the Gondolier, Ocoee Dam Deli or The Bus if you're hungry. Be sure to check out breakfast at Myrtle's across the street but check hours ahead of time. As of mid October 2024, a new Food City opened just 4 miles west. If time permits, consider driving Hwy 64 into beautiful Ocoee Gorge up to Copperhill (25 miles/35 minutes one way) where there are many shops and several breweries.  Ocoee Watersports just 3 miles east rents kayaks, SUPs and more to get you out on the water. The Foodcity at 411 & 64 is slated to open in October of 2024. Make Sugarloafers your base camp for the Cherokee National Forest!

Great spot!! We loved being right on the river. It was fun to watch people on tubes, kayaks, and rafts go by as we sat by the fire.

The campsite is terrific! Had everything we needed, and being next to the river was a huge plus! Brian is a very considerate and friendly host.

Great site! Beautiful views!

I loved tent camping at this spot with my dog, Cotton. Cotton was able to be fully off leash the entire camping trip. The Ocoee was beautiful and surrounding local hikes were the perfect escape. We will definitely be back!

This was a great spot to park our short bus for a couple of days and meet up with friends. We loved being right on the river and watching the water level rise and fall with the releases from the damn. If you want a private primitive spot right on the water this is a great option. The port-o-potty was also really convenient.

Easy, scenic, waterfront camping.
16 ft car
The perfect and most scenic low effort camping spot I’ve been to. Easy access from the road with clear direction. Brian made it so easy to get settled and responded quickly. I pulled my jeep up to the spot and had the best time hanging in the water, by the fire, and at both the wood and natural rock picnic tables. The private porta potty is a nice amenity as well as the hammock, and BBQ pit. I will be staying here again 100%.
