My partner and I NEEDED a secluded, private, serene place to get away for a night for our anniversary (without the kids- for the first time in over a decade!). This little cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Our hosts met us at their driveway and showed us to our little oasis. We felt comfortable and safe enough to spend most of our visit in various stages of undress on the deck and in the tubs. We didn't see or hear any other humans from the time our hosts departed. And I didn't feel self conscious about being too loud, ahem, if you know what I mean. There were plenty of birds, crickets and frogs to serenade us throughout the day and night. You may want to reach out to Elaine before you book if you're allergic to wasps, as we did see quite a few (they didn't bother us).
They provided pretty much everything we needed: shampoo & conditioner, towels (for the inside shower AND the outside tubs, as well as grippy mats for post bath cottage re-entry), a cold fridge for our supplies & fresh ice in the freezer, cold AC (2, in fact!), even a lb. of their own farm raised ground beef and charcoal in the grill to cook it, a hammock and games. We did attempt to watch a movie on TV, but the signal was intermittent.
The handmade elements throughout the home were so creative & beautiful. I loved all of the raw edge wood details.
My only complaint is that I prefer a softer bed. I would 100% stay here again, but I'd bring a mattress topper to supplement the bed.
