French Island is Victoria’s best kept secret. Most of the island is national park. There are lots of koalas, echidnas, birds, wildflowers, and a general store. It’s a great place to getaway… from everything. Our cottage offers sustainable luxury, with two comfy queen-bed rooms, each has a private bathroom, plus a lounge/kitchen with a cosy fire. There's space for four more camping nearby, sharing the facilities. This is off-the-grid living; electricity and water come from the sky, heat from burning home grown timber. Take a short walk to 5 kms of deserted beach and the national park, hang out round the fire-pit, enjoy our DVD and games library, order a meal… or a cocktail… or do nothing much at all. What a lovely property! We had a wonderful and deeply relaxing time here. Even though the host house is next to the cottage, Alan was extremely respectful of our space and was happy with us galavanting around the property. We had the cottage and used the lawn to camp and enjoyed checking out the funny little island, very unique. Good wading within walking distance when the tide is high. Alan was a friendly host who was there when we needed him and left us alone when we didn't!

Thank you for a lovely stay over the New Year's period! Alan is an incredibly friendly and welcoming host, helping provide us with firewood, helpful advice and tips on things to do and explore around the island. My friends and I loved the scenery and escape from the mainland, particularly being surrounded by koalas and Alan's cheeky chicken and ducks. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the camping area with camp fire was perfect to sit around each night. Thanks again Alan!

Group trip

My son and I had an amazing stay at French Island. We packed the tent onto the mountain bikes and went on an overnight stay. A very special place and we had a stunning time with even a koala camping above us! Alan and Mylene were extremely welcoming. My son loved Alan's treasure hunt game. Thanks

Alan's a fantastic host & accommodating. Beach across not so suitable for swim/fish. Fairhaven, Freemans or Tankerton better. General Store a ‘go to place’ for everything. Not a great deal to do on the island but relax/explore. It's worth a week's experience of this remote beautiful natural island.
