Better than Outside, Almost Same
We stayed at Pond Haven for one night while traveling through the area. It was better than outside sleeping, but extra large screened windows and door made us feel as though we were, in fact, outside, and we loved it with night sounds to serenade us. We enjoyed a nap on the pond dock the next morning before check out. Host was friendly, helpful with a couple of things we needed, and gave us privacy, and even offered us some down time on her expansive porch. A unique and pleasant night stay. A note: one of the the other reviews mentioned the neighbor's dogs barking, but this was only when moving about outside or talking loudly. They were quiet the rest of the time and through the night. ;-)

A dream!
What a fantastic and relaxing stay. I was treated to some evening storms and it was an absolute dream. I can’t wait to visit again! Stayed a solo female traveler and felt super safe on Suzanne’s property. She was also very responsive.

Pond Haven was lovely! I had such a delightful, restful evening during my stay. Fell asleep with a deer nearby and woke up to birds singing. The directions for how to find the place were easy to follow, and Suzanne was a caring, great host.

Pleasant, Pretty & Tidy
A beautiful space in natural surroundings. We enjoyed the fresh breeze flowing through the large screened windows. The cabin was minimalist and tidy with attractive antique/vintage furniture. It was closer to Suzanne's house than expected (100 ft). Though she was away, and we had plenty of privacy. There was a highly protective/territorial neighboring dog up hill who took his job seriously and had a few barking episodes. While some may consider the compost toilet a pleasant amenity, we did not. Being that it was such a small space, it was somewhat off putting that the sleeping space and food prep area were in such close proximity. The privacy screen around the toilet was a nice touch, however needs replaced, it has black spots spread throughout. Also I would prefer info/instructions on the potty to be located in the potty area as opposed to the food prep area. Suzanne was a good communicator, allowed us to bring our pup, and even offered a later check out time. The rug could use a non-slip pad underneath, it tends to wander. Our favorite part of staying at Pond Haven, was enjoying the little stream with its small waterfalls which ran into the pond. I was surprised that there was no lock on the cabin, a simple latch would have been nice. The bed was very comfortable.

Would Stay Again
Pond Haven was great! We were two crazy people looking for a camping spot in December and found this gem. This cabin is nicer than some Airbnbs we’ve stayed in. Suzanne was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival. She made it very clear that if there was anything we needed to let her know. If I’m in the Roanoke area again, I will be sure to stay here again!
