Immersed in Nature / 5 min to Town.
I love that I was immersed in nature and 5 minutes from Grocery Outlet. No traffic on the nearby road. My campsite was next to a wetland with frogs, a multitude of birds, and a family of beavers. Don was great and had set up the campsite nicely. There was a porta potty with both toilet paper and instant hand cleaner. The fire pit that met fire regulations so you could have a fire anytime, and he had a covered shelter filled with firewood and starter. There is a charging station and a place where you could get his lovely well water. He was a great host and had some wonderful suggestions for restaurants nearby, trails to hike, and sites to see. Some of his property including the campsites are wheelchair accessible which I liked a lot. I hope to be back soon.

Lovely pond-side stay!
We booked and arrived late, but Don made sure to greet us and ask if we needed anything for the night. All sites were clean and had easy access to the bathroom. I would 100% recommend! Waking up to a foggy pond with beavers and wood ducks was amazing.

Relaxing weekend outing.
Camp Bird Watch was a great. Cheryl was a wonderful host; sharing fresh veggies from her garden. Our kids had a great time finding frogs, snakes, playing on the giant swing, and petting the goats.

Great place to stay. We were the only people there for our 3 nights and had a great time. Nice fire pits and Don and his wife were great hosts. Not too far from the ocean for day trips and very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely recommend whether in a camper or tent.

Site 5: first come, first served
Here's what Hipcamp is all about: fantastic hosts and adventure just a stone's throw away. Our stay at Camp Birdwatch was a blast—the property was well-maintained, with convenient amenities like water, firewood, and a portable toilet on site. Our host recommended Porter Creek Falls for a hike, which turned out to be an excellent choice for our family, including three kids and two dogs; we only crossed paths with one other hiker the entire time. We also enjoyed a day trip to Westport, which was fantastic even during the busy holiday weekend. Vance Creek Park was a highlight, featuring a great playground and a kid-friendly fishing pond where we spent nearly the entire day. Shafer State Park was another excellent excursion from the camp, with a day-use area perfect for river walks and cooling off on a hot day. The camp’s layout is ideal for groups wanting to set up multiple spots while staying close together. You can see most of the other campers from your site, but the spread ensures privacy. We're already excited for our next visit!
