Lookout Arts Quarry is a vibrant rural arts cooperative, nestled on 61 acres of wetland and forest, just a mile off I-5. Once a rock quarry, this dynamic space now hosts inspiring festivals, intimate concerts, WWOOFers and wetland restoration work, and international artist residencies—not to mention our picturesque campground. Our proximity to Galbraith, a world-class mountain-biking destination is a key draw, and we feature the freshest private swimming hole around! Learn more about us at www.lookoutarts.com or follow us on social media @lookoutartsquarry 🥰 This is a campground for more self-sufficient and adventurous folks who want an alternative experience. The forests of the LAQ house myriad art installations and treasures; check out the "Saloon" stage, peep the pirate ship, and then jump into the 80-foot deep rainwater lake! Bring paddle boards and floating toys 🤿🐬 lay out in the sun on the floating wooden dock, or squirrel away reading a book in a hammock hidden in dense forest. We guarantee a lovely and unique camping experience. We are located in the Coast Salish Region on the traditional territory of the Nuwhaha and Nooksack Peoples.Read more about us at www.lookoutarts.com or follow our socials @lookoutartsquarry 🎪 While we keep the land open for community use during summer months, our energy is not directed toward full-time campground support: our campground is best suited for adventurous, respectful, kind, queer-friendly, self sufficient campers able and willing to follow instructions provided on this site. Leave no trace, packing out all garbage and recycling. The former rock quarry has filled with water creating a deep and clean glorious clothing optional swimming hole. No lifeguard on duty! For the sake of the wetland ecology, we ask that you don't wear sunscreen in the water! No peeing in there, either! There is currently one outdoor flush toilet, and many porta-potties. IMPORTANT CULTURAL DETAILS: ☞ Quiet Hours 11:11pm-8:08am (unless otherwise noted, or for special events) ☞ The Quarry swimming hole is clothing optional. Our residents are respectful and grounded folk who value consent and body positivity. ☞ We value the wildlife as we do human life. PLEASE respect critters, birds, and insects. ☞ There are RESIDENT HOMES on the property. Respect their spaces and explore with boundaries. EXTRA DEETS: ☞ Rough terrain in areas. Avoid danger zones. ☞ Located near I-5 freeway so there is an ocean-like acoustic wash of the modern world. ☞ Drive slowly and carefully. There are snakes and beavers, ducks and children. ☞ Bus / Van / Car camping ~ many accessible zones with partial to full shade ☞ Partial privacy (lots of foliage and dynamic landscapes) Downtown Bellingham 15 mins north ~ Seattle is 1+ hrs south ~ Mt. Baker wilderness is 45 min, ferry to the San Juan islands is 30 min drive. LAQ is located on the traditional unceded ancestral territories of the Nuwhaha, Coast Salish Peoples. We emphasize deep relationship and care for the lands we steward and invite you to join us in respecting this temporary home on Planet Earth.

A Blissful Space
We loved our two day stay; wandered the grounds, paddle boarded in the quarry lake, and ate a bunch of berries. My partner had never been to the property before and described it as private, welcoming, and peaceful. 10/10 will stay again next time we’re in town.

Graduation party
The Quarry is hands down the coolest place in or around Bellingham. I’d been before for the music festival BAMF and I knew that I wanted to come back for any opportunity that I could. I started writing music this year and after I wrote my first song I sort of dreamed about playing a show at the quarry. I thought it would be amazing to do it for my graduation. I reached out through their email and they were able to help me coordinate my little party/show. I am so so grateful to have had this opportunity and I will remember it for the rest of my life. The stage by the water is unreal and so magical. Swimming is one of my favorite things and getting to do it with my loved ones in such a beautiful place with music and snacks and being celebrated was a dream. Thank you :)

Camp and Bike Trip
Tent camping here was great! A super unique property with lots to walk around and look at. Came for a bike trip and it was not far to access the bike trails at Galbraith which was great!

Fabulous stay, really great camping grounds. We swam in the quarry and had a fire in the fire pit and felt really at home.

Relaxing time at the Quarry.
We booked super last minute as much needed getaway retreat. The host was very informative and helpful before we arrived. The land is in close enough proximity to both Bellingham and Burlington. Not far from the highway but feels lifetimes away. The beauty the quarry offers is so calming and waking up to the mountains views and nature was amazing. I spent most of my time reflecting on the dock or walking around the grounds and finding something new. Like the giant PIRATE SHIP! The outhouses were clean and the grounds made me feel like a could play a thousand different scenes (which I did). We met a couple of residents who were helpful and friendly. I will say I could see how certain places to set up/find could be confusing with more dispersed type camping but that is the fun in it. Ask around if you need help. We did go on a slow weekend so had a lot of space to roam.
