All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
This property has served a 'family get-away' and restorative spot for years and continues to be such since our acquisition a decade ago. There is only one campsite on this property, insuring privacy and solitude during your stay. The setting is most private, the river lovely. This setting is wonderful for a quiet family getaway in the woods; it is not 'party' appropriate. The Coweeman River runs clean and pristine. Though only 3' to 4' deep, it provides a refreshing dip on a warm summer's day. It can be used for washing and bathing and could be filtered/treated to make it potable. A locked cabin has a large covered porch overlooking the River that is available for campers, complete with chairs and picnic table. Well mannered, non-digging dogs are welcome (maximum 2) as long as their responsible owners clean up after them. The camp has a pit toilet and we are asking guests to extend its life by only putting poop and pee in it. Please burn your TP or take it out with your trash. There is a fire ring and a tub of firewood available (and refillable) on site for $10. Payment is through Venmo when you return to the electronic world. If you bring your own wood keep maximum length to 20" to keep fire/ash within ring. There is a covered picnic table (10' X 10' pop up) and chairs at the fire ring. Trash can provided. Please remove your trash. Don't forget to bring drinking water, toilet paper (none is provided), fire starter (though our firewood is seasoned, dry and easy to ignite), headlamp, roasting sticks for them s'mores, water shoes and tromping shoes. The closest store for supplies is 11 miles (20ish minutes) down Rose Valley Road, a small country market with basics, and fuel. We just added a new property upstream (but out of sight and sound), search Giggling Water. The rules are listed below under During Your Trip by clicking on 'Host Rules'. By reserving this site the Booker, and all guests, agrees to abide by these rules. Weyerhaeuser Timber Company will be harvesting on adjacent lands sometime in 2025, creating a ruckus on weekdays. Cell coverage is nonexistent/weak, depending on carrier. Please plan accordingly and enjoy your time away from digital distractions. Enjoy! You will receive precise location, driving directions and instructions on how to unlock the driveway gate in an automated message 48 hours prior to your stay. Happy Hipcamping!

The Perfect Private Getaway
Tent
This was the perfect getaway. Super private area, no other people on sight. The deck was so nice to hang out on and listen to the rain with rocking chairs and foot stools! The setting was just beautiful and calming next to the river. We spotted otters and a bald eagle blew our minds by flying by while we were on the porch reading. Just an all around amazing time!

Camping with Kingfishers!
Tent · Group trip
Bary's land along the Coweeman River is gorgeous! There are many personal touches that make place a true gem. The covered area is wonderful if you have rainy weather. And the smooth river rocks are inviting for sitting and spending time watching the water flow and the belted kingfisher birds searching for dinner. Bary is a kind and communicative host. We are so grateful that he opens his land to us!

Had a lovely solo camping weekend, just me and my dog. I really appreciated the thoughtful additions that added to the stay - rocking chairs, unlimited fire wood for purchase, and the covered spots! Definitely planning on returning in the future 😌

Was it was exactly as described and we had a wonderful time! The site was very private, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy our surroundings. Our dog and kid had the freedom to run and play, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The facilities were well-maintained, and the natural beauty of the area was breathtaking. We can’t wait to come back!

We had such a great experience camping on Bary's property. It actually exceeded my expectations! The river was so great to get a quick refreshing dip. The camping area was very comfortable with just two people and a dog. There is no potable water or electricity so make sure to prepare accordingly. This camping site was definitely a gem and we'll be coming back!
