Located less than 10 minutes from Lake Crescent, directly across US-101 from Lake Sutherland, and 20 minutes west of downtown Port Angeles, Wandering Joy Campground is the perfect homebase for your Olympic National Park adventures! Wander the property trails to discover giant moss-covered boulders, aged big leaf maple, towering grand fir, and western red cedar. Heavily forested with mixed conifer species, dense alder stands, and a rich understory, you'll enjoy a vibrant habitat for wildlife, especially birds. We are committed to protecting the health and wellness of this magical forest and kindly ask that you pack out all trash, exercise extreme caution with campfires, be a respectful neighbor to fellow campers, and leave only good vibes behind! PLEASE NOTE: * We are primarily a tenting campground. Not all sites are suitable for car-camping/rooftop tents as the parking may not be level and/or large enough for your rig. Please send us a message PRIOR to booking and we’d be happy to recommend any available sites that may fit your need. *All of our sites have their own shape, size, and characteristics, no two are alike! Please refer to the site descriptions and pictures to assist you in choosing a site for your adventure. If in doubt, just send a message and we’ll help steer you in the right direction. Your experience is important to us! *We are a small, private campground. As such, our site limits are set to 2 ppl, 1 vehicle, 1 tent. You can select to add up to 2 more ppl on select sites, for an additional charge. Our sites are simply not large enough to be considered group sites. For your comfort, we recommended that you book multiple sites if you have a larger party. As always, we can help you choose the best site for your party, so don’t hesitate to reach out! * 4-wheel drive is recommended for Sites 9-11 due to the steady uphill gravel driveway loop. Especially recommended for vans and heavier vehicles.

Great location and beautiful site!
The directions to the campground were great! We really enjoyed our time there, and the covered gazebo was really perfect for hanging out while it was drizzling. So close to many hiking trails and kayak access to Lake Crescent. Highly recommend Wandering Joy!

Lovely setting amonst the trees. Close to various outdoor excursions, and two nice trails on site. Clean, and well tended. Bring your own potable water, none on site. Highly recommend.

Wandering Joy Campground 10/10🌲❤️
This entire campsite was amazing! The toilets were kept spotless the entire weekend! We and 3 other groups were at different campsites and all enjoyed our time, site #3 had a great spot to hang a hammock and there was plenty of room for a tent or two small single person tents, With a fit pit and picnic table.. This is a great spot that is very near to many beautiful hikes 🌲 there is a little store next door when we needed something and or to refill the propane tank. We will 100% be back❤️ Thank you so much!

Perfect for tent camping
We absolutely loved Wandering Joy. All the sites were carefully thought out and not too close to your neighbors. Extra parking available for extra cars. Price was in line with other camping areas. But we loved that this one was for tents only, so no large camper type trailers. There are several trails that allow you to explore the protected forest. Firewood available for purchase by the single log as you need them. Porta potties we’re super clean and stocked with hand sanitizer. Non-potable water we used for making sure our fire embers were fully extinguished. We will definitely be back!

Clean, quiet, and immersive!
This was easily one of the best campsites I’ve ever stayed at. I’ll add to what everyone’s said, the toilets are very clean and in convenient locations. For site 11 specifically, the privacy was excellent, it’s up on a hill in the back of the property. My Prius made it up with just a touch of difficulty, so I’m sure most cars will be able to make it. The trails around the property are also a fun addition I wasn’t expecting!
