This campsite offers a peaceful and roomy experience, ideal for groups seeking solitude and nature's beauty. The location is strategically nestled between Rainier and St. Helens, providing a great base for exploration. Stargazing is a highlight, with minimal light pollution enhancing the celestial view, but be prepared for some bugs and tall grass due to the field setting. While some maintenance issues like uneven ground and tall grass were noted, the tranquility and scenic surroundings are well appreciated.

Great spot nearby Rainier and Gifford Pinchot. Comfortable site with hookups, easy to level. Loved having the place to ourselves! We were able to lay out and look at the Perseid shower, beautiful stargazing spot.

A beautiful field surrounded by the mountains. A great place to sit at sunset. We appreciated the full hookups on the site and really enjoyed our time there.

Beautiful views and location

Overall, the site was generally quiet. I think it’s geared more for weekend campers. The site is in the middle of what I think is an alfalfa field. The day we got there, someone was brush hogging the field. Later, someone came and mowed the hookup sites. After that, they both came back and bug sprayed. The next day, thankfully we were gone most of the day because when we came back, the hay had been round-bailed. If we had decided to stay at the campsite the whole time, it would’ve been bad. As it was, the fresh mowing meant there were a LOT of bugs. Wasps, bees, gnats, some odd looking ground critters, and non-venomous snakes. There is NO shade at this site. Not the owner’s fault of course, but it was hot this week. The sites were a good size, but very close together considering the size of the field. Very hard to level the trailer. The lack of light pollution made for some great stargazing and astrophotography. The location was close to all the things we wanted to do in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The site is surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains. We may have just had an off-stay. The dogs loved it, but we all brought in a lot of dead grass and my allergies were awful. Whoever was there before dumped fruit and vegetables on the ground, which attracted more bugs. We didn't use the provided fire pit since it was so hot. I’d be willing to come back in the fall (if the roads are open/passable for trailers) and it was a little less than $85 a night.

Gorgeous views, easy RV parking & solitude in the middle of an open field. As others have noted, there isn't anything but grass between the sites and the road but there is so little traffic that it was never an issue. Besides the very occasional passing car the only other sounds are from the cows off in the distance - again barely noticeable and kind of relaxing to me! It was very hot during our stay but the power system had no issues with the air conditioners running in 3 RV's. The only negative is that the grass in the camping & fire pit areas was about a foot tall. It is field grass which made it difficult to see the contours of the ground when parking RV's and was difficult to walk through. Patio mats, tents, etc will not lay on the ground, even after trying to tamp down the grass. We spent a couple hours with a string trimmer to try to make it a little easier go get around. If the area directly around the campsites & fire pit was mowed a bit shorter every 2-4 weeks it would be perfect for a group of RV's to have their own private campground. In spite of the tall grass, I will not hesitate to book this camp again. I'll just make sure I pack the lawnmower next time!
