The community is positioned along the original Butterfield Overland Stagecoach Winter Route; a short two hour drive from Las Cruces , New Mexico or just 2.5-hours from either El Paso, Texas or Tucson, Arizona. Curly is very responsive and was available immediately when I arrived to guide me to my campsite. Worked fine as an overnight camping stop while traveling. Wouldn't be a camping destination for me.

Quiet!

We enjoyed our stay in Smugglers Roost. It is a small town but there are awesome hiking trails within an hours drive. The camp is quiet and the people are very friendly! The night sky’s are awesome! If we are this way again I would definitely stay again!

Smugglers' Roost! Animas, NM

Worked fine as an overnight stop point between Las Cruces, NM and Tucson, AZ (we hate long drive days). Easy to level, full hookups were great. Other than that, it’s a big dirt field. For what it was, it was fine for us but not someplace to go as a destination.
