The Deer Crib at Flat Rock Farm is a rustic off-grid cabin nestled on 230 acres of private land. Come enjoy peace and quiet, unplug and take a hike , snowshoe or cross country ski. Abundant wildlife around. Miles of trails on the property and the adjoining Tibbetts Forest. Or just sit on the porch and read a book! It is a short drive to Grafton Lakes State Park or Cherry Plain State Park. 20 minutes to Bennington, VT and Williamstown, MA, 45 Minutes to Albany and Saratoga NY, 30 minutes to Manchester Vt and Ski Areas just beyond. Close to both the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail. Cabin includes a 3 burner gas stove, gas grill and a covered porch. A woodstove inside provides heat in the colder months. It comfortably sleep 2. We supply sheets, blankets, TP, dish soap and kitchen items(silverware, plates, glasses, cookwear, etc). Potable water and firewood included. A short walk across the lawn to the outhouse. Gas lights inside. No internet so come get away from technology! The Deer Crib is a 5 minute walk from the main house in a private setting. Set with its own lawn for games or tent pitching or even horse camping. It is unique in that it was once a corn crib and now a cozy camp. The cabin has two twin beds. A couch and a love seat also can be used for kids sleeping. In the colder months the woodstove keeps the cabin toasty. A gas grill and 3 burner stove are provided for cooking. The outhouse is a short walk across the yard. We provide potable water to the cabin. There is also pond a short walk across the driveway and miles of trails to explore. Old apple trees surround the camp so wildlife is frequently spotted. We have horses on site so although we allow pets, we would appreciate them staying out of the pasture for everyone's safety. A firepit is available and some wood provided, so small fires are welcome. We are located almost on top of the mountain so terrain is flat and hilly. Open hay fields and forest trails. You can hike down into Tibbetts forest for longer hikes. We will allow horse camping. We will provide a stock tank of water. You would have to provide your own portable fencing and food for them. There are about 5 -10 miles of trails from the camp site where you would not have to go on any roads, more if you are willing to ride a few roads. We are located close to Bennington Vt, Manchester VT , Williamstown Ma, Albany NY, and all that they have to offer, from craft fairs, farmers markets, theatre, musuems, skiing, etc.

The Deer Crib
This campsite was such a unique stay and hidden gem! We had everything we needed & more -- from gas for the grill to electricity from the generator to all the firewood for smores. There's lots of land to explore so wandering around is a must. Would come back again in a heartbeat.

The Deer Crib
Big family camp
We had such a great weekend at the deer crib. Marlene and her husband were wonderful hosts. They met us when we got there and gave us the lay of the land and directed us to the awesome network of trails on the property. We really enjoyed meeting them and chatting with them. We had a big group; three couples, two kids, and three dogs. One couple slept in the cabin, one in a tent, and one in a truck camper. The cabin is in a great field with plenty of room to run around and pitch tents. The double outhouse was clean. There’s a pond close to the cabin which the dogs and the four year olds loved. Not for swimming, but great for exploring. Grafton lakes state park is about 15 minute drive for great swimming. We hiked a great 2ish mile loop trail through the property. The cabin is awesome with gas lights and a gas stove. There’s also a generator but we didn’t use it. It was so nice to have a sink and lots of jugs of water provided for dish washing. The porch was the perfect escape from the rain on our first day. We had such a great time and can’t wait to come back for another weekend of camping!

The Deer Crib
The Deer Crib was a delightful place to spend a weekend away from it all. Marlene and Craig were incredibly responsive in making sure we had our bases covered in terms of fresh water, heat, and electricity. Our dog loved the wide open space, and amenities like the grill and stove actually worked (which I can't say for every cabin we've visited).
