Country Squire Farm

2 sites · Lodging, Tents2 acres · Ninilchik, AK
Hello HipCamper(s), Cole here and thank you for your interest in staying at the promising site of Country Squire Farms! I'm a former biologist and educator with current aspirations to grow food for communities and to restore our small scale food networks - Your Stay Will Definitely Help in my efforts! The sites are conveniently located within walking distance of Cook Inlet beach access and Deep Creek. Take a short drive and you could find yourself at the Ninilchik River, in the heart of the historic town of Ninilchik, or just stopped at one of the many pulloff view sites to enjoy the Alaskan wonders of the area. Ninilchik hosts incoming enthusiasts every year with so much to offer throughout the season including: -Beach access (free) -Volcano viewing (free) -Moose viewing (free) -Farmers markets (free) -Boat excursions -Bear viewing -Fishing -Rodeos -Kenai Peninsula Fair -Salmonfest music festival (Aug 2-4) -Sacred Acre music festival (Sep 6-8) Homer (~45 minute drive south) is one of the larger cities in the area. It has the CLOSEST domestic AIRPORT. Homer is a lively, faster paced, and stunning neighbor with many modern conveniences and tons of epic experiences to find near the bay. Kenai (~55 minute drive north) is another large city in the area and also has a domestic AIRPORT. Kenai along with neighboring Soldotna host lots of events including farmers markets, concerts, and live sporting events. All proceeds will be managed by Agrarian Cooperative; my personal business I formed in the summer of 2023 to create and support more private food vendors and farmers markets on the Kenai Peninsula. You will enjoy the simple pleasures and solitude in a peaceful coastal town while also supporting small scale farmers and local business. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have about transportation, upcoming local events, or other questions in regards to Country Squire Farms. Or feel free to just leave a message if you're interested in supporting my efforts!

Foster's Alaska Cabins

4 sites · LodgingKenai, AK
My family started the development of the property back in the 1980's.  Since then it has been narrowly used and kept in pristine shape.  My Uncle Gary is the primary person who kept up with the property and he's the type of person that pays close attention to detail.  Cyndi and I are honored to have taken over the property in 2016 and we hope to always leave a legacy that Uncle Gary will be proud of.  Learn more about this land:This is a quaint 140 SF cabin on the property that has 4 bunks for people that are just looking for a nice warm bed.  This is one of 5 cabins we operate that are primarily for fishing as they are right on Beaver Creek which flows into the mighty Kenai River.  Boats at the dock take people out fishing for salmon on the daily in the summer.  The cabin has full electrical, heat, and a kitchenette as well.  There is a small covered front porch for people to socialize on and a freezer to store your fish in if you're here for that.  The cabin itself does not have running water, but the bath house only 15' away has a full shower, toilet, and sink and it's designated for the cabin guests.

The best camping near Kenai River Special Management Area guide

Overview

About

Okay, let’s get straight to the point here—the Kenai River is a special, special place. It’s considered the world’s best fishing river, and it’s also one of the most well-loved freshwater fisheries in all of Alaska. With accolades like that, it’s no surprise that this is one busy river. Over 105 linear miles of rivers and lakes are protected under the Kenai River Special Management Area, set aside in 1984. Anglers wanting to snag king salmon will hardly find a better place! You’ll find developed campsites dotted throughout the area, and those are the spots where you can pitch your tent (camping on undeveloped lands and islands is a big no-no). And, because this place is so unique and special, be extra sure to be respectful of this glorious natural resource.

When to go

The Kenai River Special Management Area is most inviting during the summer months, from June to August, when the salmon runs are at their peak and the weather is mild. Conversely, winter can be harsh, with limited access and activities due to heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures, making it less ideal for visits.

Know before you go

  • Check the latest river conditions and fishing regulations before your trip to ensure a safe and compliant experience.
  • Be bear-aware; carry bear spray and know how to store food properly to avoid encounters.
  • Accessibility may vary across the area; some trails and facilities are designed to accommodate visitors with disabilities.
  • Prepare for the weather; layers are recommended to adapt to changing conditions throughout the day.
  • Respect the natural habitat by following Leave No Trace principles, keeping the park pristine for all.
